My mother lived at The Oaks at Plainfield until March of this year. The place was often short-staffed. Sometimes they forgot to bring her meals to her apartment. A sprinkler system malfunction flooded her apartment. She moved on to assisted living due to visual impairment. When she moved out, the office failed to file her notice paperwork, and instead recorded her move-out date as the notice date, even though she had given notice three weeks earlier. Then six months later they come after her for three weeks of extra rent. They did this despite the apartment being made ready for a new tenant within a week of her moving out. They are double-dipping, losing paperwork and then enforcing a 30-day notice period after moving out, as a scheme to collect overlapping rent for the same apartment from two separate tenants. If you or your aging parents live here, put everything in writing, keep copies, and perhaps hire an attorney so they don't do this to your family. Make no mistake, if they are willing to do this to an old lady who is going blind from macular degeneration, they'll do it to you.

The facility is clean however, some of the staffs are so unprofessional. Last week Tuesday, I was there and a male staff was so disrespectful to some of the residents and same thing happened today. Brittany one of the staff had organized what she themed a party however, it was chaotic. She place a long table across the entrance where one of the residents on walker tripped over the table, she threw one of the Christmas hat 🎩 at a resident while forcing some other residents to put on their hat for a photo disrespectfully. One of the residents confided in me saying that’s how she behaves towards every resident there and they’re so afraid of speaking up about it because they don’t want to be kicked out of their apartments which I see as a retaliatory action if such thing has ever happened. Brittany needs to go work at dollar tree and not with residents who deserves care, patience, empathy, kindness of which she lacks. Thank you!

The Oaks at Plainfield is a lovely community. Perfect for seniors 55 and over who are needing a more carefree lifestyle. They offer delicious meals, housekeeping and transportation and a calendar full of activities. The staff really look out for the residents.
