Wellbrooke of Avon

I live at Wellbrooke of Avon assisted living. The staff are friendly, helpful, and I am very happy. The whole building is kept clean. The therapy team is fantastic working with me and other residents. The food is great! I would recommend and do recommend this facility to anyone looking for somewhere to call home. I gladly call Wellbrooke of Avon my home.

My sister was not welcomed by anyone. The driver took her to her room and hooked her up to the oxygen. The furniture was stained and old. When someone finally came to her room they took her blood pressure and said it was high they said they would check it again but never did. I started right then trying to get her transferred to another facility. It was 7:30 at night I couldn't do anything until the next morning. I would have taken her right then but I didn't have oxygen. Got there the next morning she was soaked with urine. Pushed call button 3 times, I finally had to go get someone. They said they were not told she was incontinent. Don't they read charts. They didn't know anything about her. They said they would start checking her every two hours, but they didn't. It took me two days to get her out of there. Please don't send your loved ones there. There is a lot more I could say but I would be writing for a while. So so angry. They chastised her for not letting them know she had to go to the bathroom. You know have some empathy, do you think they like having to be cleaned up by strangers. Let them have a little bit of dignity. I cried all the way home.

I was sent to Wellbrooke of Avon from the hospital because I needed physical therapy. The PT staff began working with me immediately with a measure of aggressiveness wrapped in a blanket of kindness and concern. I was able to regain a level of mobility equal to my previous abilities. The food and activities were positive. The facility is clean and the grounds are lovely. The aides who carred for me were cheerful and hardworking but in my opinion they are spread much too thin. They have a lot of responsibilities for each patient in their group from getting some out of bed to showering and dressing each person. In addition they had to make the beds and clear the bathroom surfaces, collecting all the towels and wash clothes as well as collecting the patient’s dirty clothes and then either take the patient to The dining room for their meal or make sure that the meal was delivered depending on the patient’s choice. The call system is a call “pad” which turns on a light at the door to your room. There is no voice part of the call system so the patient cannot tell anyone what is needed. I think this is unacceptable because the need could be immediate or not. No one knows until the aide comes to your room to check on your situation. I would give Wellbrooke of Avon 5 stars for facility and PT but I would give them 3 stars for patient care. The aides try very hard to take care of the needs of all of their patient load but it is impossible for them to complete their expected duties in a timely manner.

Wellbrooke of Avon has been a blessing. We recently moved in a loved one to the ALF, and the transition was seamless. Victoria in Admissions, is a true pleasure to work with. She was upfront and honest throughout the tour process, ensuring that we were fully informed and aware of all the details, without any hidden surprises. Sherry, the Admissions Nurse, was incredibly patient and helpful. She guided us through the process of transferring all medications and ensured that everything was properly arranged and accurate. Cathy in Activities, is an absolute blessing to the facility! She has been incredibly caring and attentive to our loved one, making her feel right at home. Our family wasn’t sure how this transition would go, but the Wellbrooke of Avon team has made us feel at ease and has made this transition easier to accept. THANK YOU to the entire team for your kindness and compassion and for taking such good care of our loved one!
