Management is good and watchful of residents' well-being. Thank you! Maintenance is good, especially in an aging building. PLEASE budget more money for better quality daily food...not just for catering when having an open house for potential new residents. Please enforce "The Hawthorne Way" rules consistently... especially pets on leashes. Unleashed animals are safety hazards to those with walkers and wheelchairs. The animals can get hurt as well. Seasonal and holiday decor can be less extravagant (more money for better food). Don't lose your smiles! We know we seniors can be a handful and then some!

My father was only there for just over a month, but during that time I found the care he received was outstanding, being independent living, my father required a fair amount more assistance than they usually provide. They provided that care without hesitation. The management staff was very accommodating for my father and made his short stay pleasant. The food was very good and served in a true restaurant fashion. I wish my father had been able to stay longer, but life had other plans. AM the staff was very friendly, professional and helpful.

A friend of mine invited me to have lunch with her. I wasn't expecting to have how your staff treated the people that lived there. From the very friendly, very professional house maid, to the chef. Everyone was so respectful, and nice. They treated me as well as them. I didn't know how to act in dinning room, was like I was eating at a four star restaurant. All the wait staff was as good or better that any place in town.. I knew my friend was in good hands. Thank you all again... p.s my friend has no complaints!

The Rio is a truly excellent retirement community. The building is well decorated and maintained, light and airy (a major renovation was done in 2024). Management lives here, available 24/7. They are alert and caring. Activities are ongoing; attend or not, as you like. The grounds around the building are superb, including A Park Above, a huge and happy place. A dog park and a bocce ball court are adjacent. Hikers can walk miles along the Cabezon arroyo. Three meals a day are served in the elegant dining room and the food is wonderful, from chicken & waffles to superb prime rib. Life doesn't get any better!
