First of all I would like to say my loved one has been here for one year, has there been turnover? Absolutely, but if you visit any assisted living or senior communities you will see turnover. The new ED Darla truly does seem to care about the residents and not treat them just as a dollar sign. The new nurse in the building is the first nurse I’ve seen in that building that is on the floor with residents and family members addressing concerns, she seems to be there every time I visit! The new team is struggling right now because they are looking for compassionate caregivers that want to be there to assist and not just collect a paycheck. When you look for assisted living, please remember, assisted living is just that, they are there to assist. If your loved one requires medical skilled needs then assisted living is not the place to be and you can’t very well get upset if you feel they are not getting that care. My mom requires stand by assist with showers and meds. But we do see residents that need much more attention than assisted living can offer. Please remember this when giving a place a bad review. Ask yourself does my mom or dad just need assistance or do they need skilled nursing care. The care staff are great, but they are not trained to handle medically fragile or they would be working in a hospital, rehab or nursing home. Hope this helps when looking for place for mom or dad!!

Update January 2026: Sodalis has installed a new Executive Director and after a month, changes have been overwhelmingly positive. Staff has now changed over nearly 100%, but the new employees are courteous, caring and attentive. They actually come check on me regularly and respond to call button requests. Chef is excellent as well. The new management team is clearly putting in lots of effort and it shows. I have been a resident here for 3 months. This is my first experience with assisted living. Understand that these places start with a basic rent (room, food, utilities, housekeeping, laundry). Beyond that, there are a number of “levels of care,” each one adding an additional monthly cost in tiers. I was specifically told that without tiers of service, they would still “assist” me with small tasks. In fact, I was even given a push/call button that I can wear around my neck. Since being there, I have required various minor assistance with things (cpap machine comes unplugged, minor cut/ help with bandaid, broken chair- all things that would take not more than 5 minutes). With the exception of some wonderful employees, often the staff doesn’t respond to the call button at all, or when they do, they are rude or angry that I have bothered them. Even the director was now saying that “you aren’t supposed to get any assistance since you aren’t paying for a tier of service.” So my family then moved me onto the first tier of service which included them managing my meds, and was supposed to guarantee assistance as mentioned above. The very first day (hours after we went over the meds schedule), all of my meds were withheld (employee said that “no instructions had been left so no meds for you”). The following day they tried to give me someone else’s meds. I also noticed that the staff still doesn’t come when I press the button- even when I had cut my leg and was bleeding. The director says that they are under staffed and they are “too busy with other residents to help you.” We have since removed me from the level one tier of service. Speaking of staff- I want to emphasize that there are some truly wonderful people here, but also some that are rude and uncaring. Also, there is tremendous turnover. Within 2 months, they have lost the activities person, head medical person, head cook, maintenance person and more. Perhaps this is indicative of this industry? Residents here are fantastic. Their friendship and the caring employees make the difference. I just wish management hadn’t promised more than they planned to deliver. Lower expectations would have made this transition easier. For those looking to put your parents into assisted living for the first time, I hope this review will give you questions to ask. “Assisted” at least with respect to Sodalis is more of a marketing promise and certainly not a practice- even when on a paid “tier of service.” Proceed with caution and ask lots of questions.

We have had only good experiences at Sodalis Flower Mound. My mom has been here for 3 years now, and she is thriving here, because all her needs are being met. The staff is really top-notch, and our family is so thankful that she is in good hands here.

I placed my mom here for Respite care for several weeks. The first thing I noticed was the “Home Like” environment and the welcoming and helpful staff. The entire place is clean and always smells like good home cooking. The food was so good that I joined mom in a meal or two and really enjoyed it!!! Thank you, Sodalis of Flower Mound, for taking great care of mom and for giving her your attention and love during the time I couldn’t be.
