The grounds are quite nice with almost a country club feel. The restaurants are nice with decent cuisine. The apartments are spacious and they could be changed for people with disabilities. However... Rather silly that the apartments do not have the fire/smoke alarms with strobe lights, as a standard. Seems they believe a high decibel smoke alarm is sufficient. The Seniors I know are either hard of hearing, Deaf, or very heavy sleepers. My parents, who are Deaf, no longer live at Riderwood. But during their stay, I had numerous issues with Riderwood's management. One was the smoke alarms did not have strobe lights. Another issue was the TV's were not permanently set on, as they should be, to close captioning. Think about it, it's a senior living community, most residents are either hard of hearing or Deaf. I've asked the management for this accommodation for all residents numerous times. Never happened. I made other suggestions for improved security and other needed accommodations for people with disabilities, which were easily argued as required under the ADA. The only actions we saw from Ericcson and Riderwood were the nod their heads in agreement, a polite thank you, and then hurry back to selling more apartments. If you are interested in this community, my advice is to get the accommodations you need or want in writing, before you sign-up. Do not accept the smiles and head nods. They are most interested in having you sign the contracts, first.

My parents have lived here for the past ten years and it has been a blessing in so many ways. Yes the food is not always amazing but all in all this has been the best thing they ever did.

We visited my sister and brother in law at Riderwood for three days. They have lived there for about three years. They love their residence. They have met so many nice people many of whom we met and found them to be charming. The dining and food was outstanding. The food was quality, healthy food which was prepared like a 4 or 5 star restaurant. We have visited many assisted living facilities in many places and their food choices were the best I have enjoyed in senior facilities. They had so many offerings. The facilities were very nice and kept up. Lots of renewing going on throughout the many buildings. The grounds are spectacular in their plantings and landscaping. Since we live many states away from Riderwood, we can’t sign up, but if we lived in the area, we certainly would think about it.

My mom lives here at Riderwood. We did an extensive search of around 15 different communities when she was looking to move into one. We visited six different ones. She loved this one because of the size. It is very large comparatively. There are 2400 residents. About 80% is independent living. They have continuing care all the way to memory and nursing care. The staff are friendly and caring and kind. I enjoy visiting her here. The food is fine - not exceptional but not bad either. My mom loves it. ;c) There are eight different restaurants on site, two per village center. There are four villages, each with three residential buildings and a few services like a bank, gym, CVS, medical offices, mailboxes, front desk, etc. There are services like handymen and IT on site (mixed reviews on those; not the most savvy service people on the planet but at least someone is there if you need a hand). There are over 200 clubs on campus, multiple gyms, a pool, fitness classes, PT and rehab, and lots of ways to entertain yourself (movies, performances, trips, etc.). They have shuttle that takes you around as well. She likes being here a lot because she feels community and support and I like it because she has those things as well. It's a pleasant facility and they are always doing improvements. So grateful she's here and that she likes it.
