My initial post below was from many years ago. My mother went from private pay to Medicare/Medicaid after several years. The experience once she went on to Medicaid changed completely, not to mention how the Administration treated residents and family during Covid. Not good at all. Different rules for Admin vs the rest of the world. The Administration are bullies and you can’t count on the State of Idaho Licensing or the Ombudsman to advocate for your family member even if you have significant documentation of wrong doing. Once my mother was on Hospice in the memory care unit, the Administration was unprofessional and threatening because they did not agree with Hospice, our personal physician or the family. It was extremely upsetting and I WOULD NOT AND DO NOT recommend Luther Park. That being said, the activities staff, dining staff and care staff were very kind. The Luther Park of 2018 no longer exists in my opinion. I had to remove my mother from the facility in her final weeks to ensure that she was properly cared for (2023). PRIOR REVIEW WAS WHEN MY PARENTS WERE FIRST IN THE FACILITY, were private pay and were mobile. My parents moved from California to Luther Park at Sandpoint in October 2018. The move was sudden and Luther Park and the staff were amazing. They allowed my parents to move in on a Friday afternoon, which they prefer not to do so that all the staff have an opportunity to get to know the new residents before the weekend. The. exception was made because there were concerns my parents could get injured in my home if they were to get up and wander during the night! Then I was refunded a non-refundable pet deposit because my parent's elderly dog died within 24 hours of their move in. That was very kind of the facility. The staff, from the resident assistants to housekeeping, dining hall staff and Administration were phenomenal with checking in with my parents and me daily to make certain the transition was going well. Within three weeks of moving in, my 87 year old father was placed on hospice. The staff were angels. They treated my parents with the utmost kindness and afforded my father the dignity that the elderly do not often receive in facilities, hospitals or sometimes their own homes! I will never forget any of the staff and how they cared for my father and checked on my mother hourly, not just while my father was dying but in the weeks after his death to make sure my mother was ok too. And if that was not enough of a testimonial, allow me to add that when my father died the staff of Luther Park lined the halls and entry way of the facilty to accord him the respect and dignity of acknowledging his passing. The staff then walked out the main doors and were vigilant until he was loaded into the herse and driven away. I have never seen anything so amazing in my life. I am a retired investigator. I investigated care homes for elder abuse, neglect and death for 20 years. I never saw a facility treat their residents with as much dignity, caring and love as I have seen and experienced with Luther Park. Anytime a family member moves into an assisted living facility or memory care unit, families need to be diligent and involved with their families care. The difference I have found with Luther Park is that they welcome your diligence and you in the facility, your family members new home. Thank you, Kim Miller, Daughter of Sandor and Caroline Szigedi

Sandpoint is so lucky to have a facility such as Luther Park. The rooms are lovely, the staff is caring, the common areas are clean and the food is fabulous! It looks a lot like an upscale hotel. I have a number of friends there and have shared quite a few meals with them. It is always so enjoyable. Having a relative whom I visit often in assisted living in another state, and having had parents in such in yet another state, I am confident in saying that Luther Park's food is outstanding. Food is so important when one is no longer choosing and preparing one's own. In addition, Luther Park offers a wide variety of activities for resident participation.

Lutherpark is the best assisted living facility in town. It looks like a fancy hotel as the decor is lovely and it's always clean and well maintained. The staff is the most friendly, caring, hard-working, and patient people I know. Staff and residents make it feel like a big family under one roof. The food is decent and they try to have a nice activity at least once a week. It's a little expensive but I think you get your money's worth.

My parents have been fortunate to live at Luther Park for nearly three years. The most impressive feature of this facility is the excellent staff that has cared for them with kindness and consideration--cooks, servers, nurses, cleaners, and everyone who has helped pave the way to comfort and full living. The meals have been wonderful, and my dad enjoys Wii bowling and riding the exercise bike. I'm thankful for this facility in Sandpoint! It's also very attractive.
