Sunrise senior living was leagues better. Hemsley cut corners, had most of the good staff quit on them or fired, and quality of care, food, and availability of care plummeted. Do not recommend bringing your elderly here.

I have lived in Colorado Springs for more than 5 years. My auntie lives close to this facility in the University Park community. She has had friends who moved into the facility when it was sunrise. She still goes and visits 1 friend, now that it is Hemsley House. I have gone a few times to visit her friend with her and to see the negative comments from people on here make me sad. The facility is really nice, the people who greet you when walking in are very kind. The residents, and my Auntie's BFF all seem very happy! I think people need to look at the bigger picture and be kind. The residents' that live there are safe and happy. Regardless of the name on the side of the building. God Bless.

Please read newest reviews - new management/owners in past year, some reviews are from when it was still Sunrise and it is no longer the same. My mom has lived at this facility since December. Since she moved in, there has been an incredible turnover in almost all staff and management positions. The housekeeping is inadequate and I find myself cleaning my mom’s apartment every week when I visit. The food is truly horrible - my husband and I ate there with her recently and returned all of the food. There is virtually never any fresh fruit or vegetables, meals are served lukewarm and stale, and they run out of staples like sugar. The nursing care has changed over so much that no one seems to know what is going on with my mom or the type of assistance she needs. She has also complained of disrespectful treatment by the overnight staff. Every invoice I’ve received since she moved in has had errors. Phone calls are not returned. They are on the higher price range of assisted living facilities in our area, with subpar care. We are looking for a new place, and until Hemsley House can get their act together I would not let a loved one live there.

Hemsley House is a unique and spacious community, nice size apartment, and cozy common areas, From the time I stepped into the community I was greeted with a smile and warm welcoming. The community is clean, I had a lunch tour and let me just say the food is amazing. Highly recommend for your loved one.
