Thank you, Hearthstone, for being just the place for my parent to call home. My tour, was amazing. The workers stopped and said hi and were smiling and interacting with other residents. I was introduced to a few family members and was made to feel like my parent had already moved in and was part of the community. A decision to move someone you love so much to memory care is not an easy decision at all and I felt like everyone at Hearthstone really make the people living there feel happy and safe. I toured twice and each time I was greeted by friendly workers. After moving in, my parent needed to settle and with memory loss there was confusion and anxiety. I will admit I was worried because this was new for me too. I can't say enough about the care we received that first week and the great care and attention my parent receives now that is ongoing. Nothing is ever perfect, but people are not perfect and people with dementia are not always predictable. the workers at Hearthstone, just jump right in and adapt so that my parent knows nothing but having people around her that care. They are doing things in activities that I would have never thought they would do and it brings a smile to my face. I would highly recommend Hearthstone Leesburg to others.

My wife and I spent the last few months of her life in this beautiful facility. Unfortunately, the outstanding appearance of the place does not match the level of care. Take note of how many residents have video surveillance in their rooms. This was recommended to us by a staff member because of what goes on! Some of the night staff are abusive, mean, and coldhearted, and the same ones work almost every night. We had a firsthand witness who reported extremely unprofessional and unkind behavior towards residents (and she was not alone when this happened so others saw it, too). This was reported to Hearthstone's parent company, as well. No response from either. Please do not send your beloved relative here - I am just thankful my daughter got me out before anything happened to me. I loved the receptionists, activities, and a couple aides, but my wife (a retired nurse) deserved so much better in her last months of life. My poor daughter carries the guilt of placing us there thinking it was the right thing to do but I will never hold her responsible because of the "show" they put on when they admitted us. Shiny new does not always mean nice!

Both of my parents were residents of this new community. My father's experience was average. He would sit in the dining room for over an hour waiting to be served and was not even acknowledged. There were two occasions (over 3 months) where he didn't even get served at all and everyone at his table left. He showed up for activities that were cancelled (this happened routinely) but nothing was posted about the change. This is not ideal for a resident who already has some mild dementia! The worst care, however, was for my mother, who was terminally ill with cancer. She was targeted by one cruel overnight aide who yelled at her, rushed her in and out of bed (she was wheelchair bound) in the middle of the night because she was irritated with being called - and then caused my mother to bleed profusely from the gashes she received from the bed rail. Worst of all, one week before she died, she was vomiting bile in her room and the medical tech was heard to later say, "I was stuck in her room for an hour!" while waiting for the ambulance....and the overnight tech who targeted her was observed jumping up and down for joy that my mother was admitted to the hospital. My mother later died shortly thereafter. The suffering she endured in this place has caused my family deep anguish, and had we known the extent of it, they would have been moved immediately. My father is deaf and missed much of what was happening, and my mother could not speak due to a stroke. Once we learned the details of what had happened (from eyewitnesses), all of it was documented in writing to Ciel (the parent company) and Hearthstone, but not one word of response was received. I will say that the concierge staff up front are wonderful human beings who truly care....but If your family member is vulnerable and cannot advocate for themselves, please do not send them to this place.

Carla has been absolutely amazing in helping us get my mother in law settled into her new home. All the staff is very kind and attentive. They have tons of activities happening which she enjoys. The food is yummy as well. It’s very refreshing finding a place that I know she is safe and being well cared for. Thank you HearthStone!
