Grace Haven Assisted Living & Memory Care

Some how my post got accidentally deleted, not sure how. Anyway I will repost it. My parents were residents of Grace Haven in 2023-2024 and I wish we had choosen a different place, however my father wanted to be close to where I lived so they decided on GH. Things were good at first but turned very quickly. My father was on an opiod for severe pain, on several occassions his opiod pills were off, some were missing. We were told that some fell on the floor or had been put in a staffs pocket so they had to be disposed of. It's kind of ironic that this only happened to his opiods and never ever any of his or my mother's medications. The residents are provided with a menu in which to choose their meal choices. I can't even count the number of times they ran out specifically requested meals and were given substitutions. For a few months I took over my parents dinners. I prepared full course dinners and delivered them, making sure their diet was properly maintained. Even though I was preparing their dinners they were charged for that service. After a few months I had some medical issues and was no longer able to do this. I notified GH that they needed to resume his dinners 100 percent of the time and I was told all staff had been notified. Within the first week there was twice they neglected to provide my father dinner and I had to get him carry out meals. I cleaned their room at least weekly, their cleaning was minimal at best. Once a month I did a deep clean and the water would be brown. They accused me of using bleach, I only used lysol. I found my mom soaked in urine. Her depend was soaked in urine and it had leaked out on her pjs and sheets and it smelled terrible. The urine had been on her pjs and sheets so long it had dried. After my mom passed my dad was confused and lonely and in the starting phase of dementia. Residents are given an emergency button in which he used. When he was confused he would push it again forgetting he had pushed it. They ended up taking the emergency button away for a wild stating they were too busy to accommodate how often he pushed it. This was also at a time he had begun falling. Their accounting was suspicious, when he was pushing the button more than they thought was acceptable they added a huge increase to his bill. Other accounting practices are suspicious. They over billed and doubled billed on several occassions and even after showing proof they denied it. They said that they had recently renewed or changed their license so they were not responsible for anything prior to that. I know for a fact that is not true. We tried to get refund the several thousand dollars owed back to us and they still keep denying it. They will not own up to their errors. I wish we had not had these experiences, it took a toll on my parents lives and they went downwardscin their health very quickly once they moved to GH. But I am glad I lived close by so I could monitor them and help them in areas GH did not even though they advertise that they meet the needs of their residents. I would highly recommend that no one place their parents in this facility.

She carefully selects partners who share her dedication to compassionate care, ensuring that every aspect of Grace Haven reflects her high standards. The entire team at Grace Haven is outstanding. Each member is deeply involved in both caregiving and community events, creating a family-like atmosphere. Lindsay, the activities director, consistently plans wonderful events and activities that keep residents engaged, entertained, and living life to the fullest, regardless of their cognitive or physical abilities. Grace Haven is more than just an assisted living facility; it's a warm, caring community where residents are treated with the utmost dignity, respect and kindness. I highly recommend it to anyone seeking a loving and supportive environment for their loved ones

The staff at Grace Haven is the best! They are patient and caring with the residents. I was unsure of what to expect, but I have been overwhelmed by the support for our resident and us as we journey through the stages of dementia. Highly recommend Grace Haven

We are extremely happy that our mom chose Grace Haven as her new home. The facility is clean, it is well maintained and there are always activities planned for the residents. The staff goes above and beyond to make sure each resident is well cared for. No matter how many residents need a high level of care, each member of the staff shows compassion and kindness to those who need assistance.
