Fairwinds – Rio Rancho

12/4/25 LOCK UP YOUR VALUABLES. Locking your unit doesn't prevent theft. My mom lost a sweater jacket, silver bracelet, two antique wine glasses, a door decoration and, $200 cash taken from her wallet in her file cabinet before we put a lock on the file cabinet. A week before our designated move out date, when the unit was locked during our absence while we were moving, a box that was still remaining to be moved was rifled through and multiple bottles of expensive liquor were stolen. Doralei, the general manager was alerted to the liquor theft and she stated that if someone wants access to your unit the front desk will accommodate without your permission or knowledge. The best protection is to install a security camera which we did after a number of personal items were stolen. However, after the security camera was disassembled during move out, in our absence, someone with keys entered the unit, rifled through our already boxed personal property and stole from us. Too many people with keys, no apparent oversight or accountability, and no respect for personal property.

Both of my parents were residents here for over 3 years. We have been through management changes, staff changes, and the occasional equipment breakdown. Throughout it all, my parents were safe, well cared for, and happy. The residents were welcoming, asking each other to join the table at meals and my parents made new friends. The staff have become friends and as close as family. When my mother was on hospice services, the care staff came by every few hours to assist with her care or just to be present for her and for my dad. The kitchen staff would bring smoothies or other food they thought might appeal to my mom when she had no appetite. The health and wellness staff have always been quick to call me if they feel there are any changes or if they think my parents are looking or acting different than they normally do. Because of them, I was able to go to work comfortable in the knowledge I would be called if anything changed and further action was needed. After each of my parent's passing, the staff were there for support, sympathy and consolation. Fairwinds is an integral part of our family and I recommend them often as a great option for those looking for safe options for aging loved ones.

Their compassion and attentiveness made all the difference, ensuring my mother’s last days were peaceful and filled with kindness. They worked in harmony, providing the highest level of care while offering emotional support to both my mother and our family. Every smile, every reassuring touch, and every moment of care reflected their deep commitment to making this transition as gentle as possible. I will always be grateful for their dedication, love, and unwavering kindness. Fairwinds - Rio Rancho is truly a place where residents are treated like family, and I am forever thankful for the way they embraced my mother with such tenderness in her final chapter. I cannot say enough good things about Fairwinds. Mom loved the staff and developed close friendships with many of them and with the nice residents too. The staff was so helpful to Mom and she frequently remarked about how all of them were so good to her. She did not want to live anywhere else.
