The kind folks at the Arbor took such great care of my dad- he really loved it there. I was worried that when he had to finally go into memory care that he would get depressed. Just the opposite happened. He brightened up and became the life of the party, flirting with the staff who were all incredibly warm, kind, and patient with him. I would especially like to thank Linda, Barbara, Juliana, and Shylyn who treated him like family, Maurine who supervised his great care and Aryanna who took the stress of dealing with the insurance company off our hands. Thank you all so much!

2,elegance employees went out of their way, made extra effort to help me (find the iron and the ironing board). thank you Tatiana and Hector! 2 outstanding employees who care about doing a good job for the residents. we all appreciate you!

We were rushing to find an assisted living community for my father following his stroke, and wanted a place where we knew he'd be well cared for, but also encouraged and supported in his recovery and continued independence. I was thrilled to find Elegance, an absolutely lovely community in a fabulous part of Berkeley. They made the transition and move-in so smooth for us, and my dad felt not just welcomed, but embraced. The staff is fantastic, the physical space is wonderful and the food is excellent. They have worked closely with us to smooth out any bumps and have been super helpful as we navigate this new life for my dad. Best of all, my own kids LOVE spending time there with grandpa, because Elegance is comfortable and friendly (the staff gives them ice cream nearly every time :). My favorite part is the Art Room, which residents and visitors get to use anytime they like.

My mother was one of the first residents of Elegance Berkeley when it opened in Fall 2022, and I'm posting this review because I used to tell people how great it was. Unfortunately, there has been constant churn of personnel from the Executive Director to the staff level, replacing a management team that was warm, welcoming and communicative with a team that does not communicate well with families, engages in questionable billing practices, has high turnover/gaps in coverage of key roles, and does not resolve problems. The caregivers have been great, but many of them have now left. My mother was sometimes left in her room at meal times because there were not enough staff to bring her to the dining room, despite paying handsomely for that service. Yes, the building is new and pretty, but I would advise new families to keep looking elsewhere if they want stable care for their loved ones, and a responsive management structure. p.s.
