My mom was turned down by 52 rehab facilities because of some aggressive tendencies. I called and spoke to Dexter and his great uncle had gone through the same thing and said they’d be willing to come to the hospital and do an assessment. Their executive Director Dustin then came and did an assessment And fought to get my mother to their facility and while on a cruise she got moved to the facility she had nothing with her, but Dustin got her a bed and sheets and everything she needed and my brother was able to get some of her stuff there within two days. Even with confusion, dementia/ Alzheimer’s, and some aggressive behaviors Discovery village has been like heaven on earth. Their caregivers are top-notch, compassionate, loving, even when my mom can be mean, they still choose love and joy and happiness. They walk in with big smiles, giving her hugs, giving her reinforcement treating her with respect, dignity, honesty, and patience. and at night they pray with my mom, which is like the biggest gift to me. The activity director Emily is a God send she has passion and joy about her position and loves her residents. Even the cafeteria staff Daphne knows her residents and treats them with love compassion and knows exactly what they want and what they need when they’re eating. The nurse Rose has been exceptionally helpful very communicative And is very insistent on hiring the best med tech and caregivers she can. I searched for a place like this and finally found what is the perfect place for my mom. Although it’s an hour away from my house, it’s worth the drive and I always leave with a smile and joy and mostly peace in my heart which if you were a caregiver of a loved one with dementia or Alzheimer’s, you know peace is the hardest thing to find, well at Discovery Villages Of Westchase. You will find peace of mind. Please consider them when looking for a place for your loved one.

Regarding Memory Care at Discovery Village: My mom was at home with home healthcare accommodations until our family could see that she was no longer benefiting from being at home anymore and in fact being at home eventually became very overwhelming. My mother struggled against her Alzheimer's trying to be as much herself as possible and we supported her 100% along the way. Sadly the disease eventually took this away from her and left us with no choice but to seek another place for her to live. I believe we made the right decision because when we finally moved her into Discovery Village, it actually came as a relief for mom. She was very sad about what was happening to her but even in spite of her condition, she knew that being at home no longer made sense and was hopeful that Discovery Village would make life easier. It did. The people there could see how important she was to us and they truly cared about mom. The place is clean and new with good food that my mother enjoyed. She spent most of her day in group activities and when she wasn't feeling well enough to be part of the group she was still well cared for. Everything about Discovery Village is just as good as it looks in the pictures and considering the options available, Discovery Village is a great value for the dollar. I strongly recommend Discovery Village.

WOW WOW WOW!! I recently had the pleasure of meeting with Veronica Rogers, the General Manager of this beautiful new Assisted Living Facility. I was with a friend who will be moving her mom in as soon as the building is complete. She (my friend) was super impressed with the fact that she could give a $1000 refundable deposit which would lock the rate her mom pays for 2 years, and she will get to be one of the first to choose her apartment. Veronica is a breath of fresh air and was so kind and informative. She is obviously going to be a lot of fun for the residents to be with! TRULY IMPRESSIVE and a welcome addition to our community!!!

The facility at Discovery Village at Westchase is beautiful with spacious apartments and seems more like independent living than an assisted living facility. I have been extremely pleased with how the facility handled COVID protocol safety, vaccines and boosters. I feel my family is safe there. That is a true blessing and gives me peace of mind. Since I first posted the above several years ago, my 94-year-old father was moved from Assisted Living to Memory Care. Our experience in both parts of the facility was amazing! But in Memory Care, Dad needed extensive assistance and I was afraid I would have to move him to a nursing home. The team there was like family to him - changing him, bathing him, engaging him in mealtimes and activities every day, making his bed daily, ensuring he ate and drank, recognizing his veteran's service, playing the piano for him and the other residents, playing table volleyball, celebrating holidays, etc. They were so creative and insistent that he get out of his apartment and participate, which was just what he needed. He passed away last week, and all of the staff have come to hug me and tell me wonderful stories about him. What a blessing to have him in a home-like apartment where he had around-the-clock checks and care and was able to age in place and pass peacefully in his own way. I will be forever grateful.
