Casa has been my home for 13 years now. Best decision we ever made. My husband has been in SCR (memory unit) for three years and is thriving with the loving care. Lifetime care is most important as we age. At my age so many friends have passed on I am grateful for all the friends I have made here

“We recently toured Casa de las Campanas and left feeling completely blown away. After visiting multiple senior living communities, this was the first place that genuinely made us feel excited about the possibility of moving forward instead of overwhelmed by the process. The campus itself is absolutely beautiful, but what truly separated Casa de las Campanas from everywhere else was the level of professionalism, warmth, and knowledge we experienced from Priscila, the Sales Director. She was incredibly impressive. Every question we had, she answered immediately and thoroughly. It was obvious she deeply understands not only the community itself, but also the emotional and practical side of helping families make such an important decision. What stood out most was that she never made us feel pressured. Instead, she made us feel informed, comfortable, and genuinely cared for. By the end of the tour, we found ourselves not wanting to wait to move forward because of how confident and reassured she made us feel about the community and the lifestyle offered there. During our visit, we also had the chance to meet Stephanie, the Executive Director, who was so kind, welcoming, and engaging. You could instantly tell there is strong leadership and a positive culture throughout the entire community. Every resident and staff member we encountered seemed happy and proud to be there, which says everything. Casa de las Campanas truly feels like a place where people can thrive, not just live. Highly, highly recommend touring this community if you are considering senior living options. It completely changed our expectations.

My wife and I moved into Casa from Oceanside, CA two years ago. It was not a particularly difficult decision since we knew some friends who were already residents of Casa and we have visited the place a number of times while waiting for the type of unit to become available. We only looked at a couple of other places and decided on Casa, mainly because it is a nonprofit type A CCRC and friendliness seems to be in the culture of the residents. We really discovered many of the merits and advantages in the two years after we moved in. We first thought that moving inland from Oceanside, Casa would probably be hotter in the summer, but instead found living in Rancho Bernardo quite comfortable, perhaps due to the heavier vegetation coverage of the nearby hills and the abundance of tall trees. Another advantage we did not realize initially was the close proximity to San Diego zoo Safari park, which has now become our regular morning hiking place. Casa has a well maintained landscaped campus and excellent recreation facilities. The garden pool and jacuzzi are especially attractive. Not only because the environment is resort-like but the 100F salt water of the jacuzzi, combined with physical therapy, did wonders for the recovery of my injured back last year. Casa has ample culture and recreation activities for residents to lead an active and lively life. In addition, there are many residents-organized clubs pursuing various interests. It may be a bit unusual for a senior living community but Casa has an active High Adventure Club which we took advantage of and really enjoyed paragliding over the cliffs at Torrey Pines. The meals in Casa at three dining venues provide residents with variety and flexibility to form their own plans. The large buffet at the main dining room is especially popular. We have actually met residents who had moved from other CCRC to Casa simply to get away from an order-from-menu-only meal system. Having lived here for two years, we definitely believe that we have made the best decision in our lives.

I moved to Casa de las Campanas after I was finally convinced that my perfectly contented, solitary life was not optimal for aging well. Casa has been a revelation: I can still be solitary if I want to be, but, to my amazement, I am delighting in being embedded in a community of active, interesting friends. Casa has such a variety of teachers, scientists, artists, computer experts, homemakers, musicians, lawyers, authors, military (and military wives, their own specialty), medical, academics - - anything you're interested in, you are likely to find a kindred spirit here. I really appreciate the stimulation these varied neighbors offer. Here are a few of the other aspects of Casa that are most important to me. The indoor pool is great for year-round pool aerobics classes and relaxation, while the outdoor pool is especially delightful for socializing (and grilling). The fitness center gym, already fairly comprehensive, is being revamped to make the equipment even more useful to seniors, while our exercise classes provide regular challenges to our stength, balance, flexibility, and to our minds, too. Our primary (of three) dining venue has a salad bar, which is essential for my whole-plant-food centered diet--and it also serves meals my whole family loves when they visit. And my apartment also has a full kitchen, so I can prepare meals at home if I want. (That seemed much more important before I moved in and started eating here, but I do appreciate it.) There are an abundance of activities, recreational outings, volunteer opportunities, and ways to contribute to and improve Casa, and management seems to me to have found a good balance between the necessary business constraints of running a large community and still letting residents choose priorities and directions. One factor I didn't investigate adequately before moving here was Casa's financial stability. So I was relieved to discover that Casa is a responsibly, rigorously managed non-profit, which should be around helping seniors live well for another 30+ years. I chose to move to Casa for carefully considered, rational reasons, but coming here has turned out to be very much a feel-good decision.
