Brookdale Oak Hollow

My mother had a wonderful experience at Brookdale Oak Hollow after moving up care levels from Brookdale Eden Estates a block away. At least once a week Mom would tell me how happy she was to be living there. The marketing director, Peter, got to know us and our needs and was always there for support or to answer questions and welcomed us to the community. He also helped maintain her plants and bird feeder outside her window in the beautiful courtyard. The staff is very resident centric, and you can feel that day in and day out. She was genuinely loved and cared for by the staff. On the rare occasion where there was a concern, they were responsive and addressed and resolved issues quickly. I appreciate their dedication to what they do and those they serve. The food quality was good and chef Tracie goes out of her way to make sure residents have food they love. My Mom lost the ability to swallow solid food in the end and they made her custom shakes daily with probiotic yogurt, ice cream and fruit and took the time to go shop individually for her culinary needs since it didn't fit into the standard bulk food orders. I never worried about medication being given correctly and on time. The health services are top notch, and Mom had some challenging problems that needed extra attention. Although my Mom didn't usually choose to participate, there are many activities and family opportunities to engage with the community which were always well planned and executed. Again, there was always that feeling of focus on and connection to the residents and families. I saw 3 other memory care programs, and this was the only one that really felt like a community from the moment you walked in. The others felt more like hallways in a hospital and very institutional. Oak Hollow is the exact opposite of that and is a great choice for those with loved ones needing the level of care.

Brookdale Oak Hollow is a wonderful facility all ways around. It is always tough when you have to make a decision to move a loved one to this level of care. I was lucky to have met with Peter to discuss this for my father. The staff and support was always outstanding and I’m thankful Senior Living Specialists thought to connect me here. The true difference is the staff, they tl really care and want the best for their resident and the family’s. I’m thankful!

The Brookdale Oak Hollow staff has made walking this difficult path with our mother’s dementia the most pleasant experience it can possibly be. When visiting different facilities, the nursing staff and director at this location went above and beyond in their time and interest to help make the move to memory care as happy and comfortable as possible. Since being here 6 months now, we can honestly say that the staff here is always so loving and ready to help with any concerns we’ve ever had. THANK YOU Whitney, Kiki, Delores and everyone here for loving and taking such good care of all the residents as we always witness you doing! We especially appreciate that our mother gets to be a part of your wonderful environment. Gosh…even the food here is better than many restaurants which is so above the grade for many long term care facilities!

Recently Brookdale Oak Hollow hosted an Aloha party complete with an Elvis impersonator. Family and residents alike enjoyed the party replete with grass skirts and leis. The Chef prepared a banquet with carved watermelon baskets. Decorations were adorable, A special thank you to Clare and her assistant Morgan! It was wonderful. My husband, a resident there even stood in front of his wheelchair and we “danced.” Thank you for this wonderful event!
