Wildwood Canyon Villa

My grandmother lives in the memory care unit, and I cannot say enough wonderful things about the care she receives. It gives our family so much peace of mind knowing she is surrounded by people who truly care about her well-being and treat her with kindness, dignity, and compassion every day. I especially want to recognize Sonya. She is absolutely amazing and goes above and beyond for my grandmother. She is patient, caring, attentive, and always makes sure my grandma is comfortable and well cared for. You can tell this is more than just a job to her—she genuinely loves what she does, and it shows in the way she treats the residents. The entire memory care staff has been wonderful, but Sonya deserves special recognition for the exceptional care she provides. Our family is incredibly grateful for everything she does. Thank you for treating my grandmother like family. I highly recommend this memory care community to anyone looking for a safe, loving, and compassionate place for their loved one.

Let me first say that Wildwood Canyon (WC) is an 11 out of 10. I love everything about this place, from the business model and services provided, to the staff to the rates. At the risk of accidentally omitting someone, I will not name individuals; however, these people—from directors and managers to front-line caregivers, are like family to me and my parents, who moved into WC about two months ago. We love them, and feel genuinely cared for as one might from a dear friend or family member. I toured WC a few months ago after health and age issues arose with my parents (93 and 87) to the point where they conceded they could no longer live independently. At the conclusion of my tour, I knew without a doubt that I wanted my parents in this place. The level of caregiving, the direct attention, the sense of community and family, the activities, the cozy home-like atmosphere, the warmth and kindness exuded by all staff, led me to make a deposit on an apartment before consulting its future residents. I took my mother for a tour shortly thereafter, and she fell in love with the place. My father was on a skilled nursing facility at the time, recovering from an illness. She without hesitation said she was ready to move there. (Since that time, she has come to like having someone do her laundry, make her meals, and clean her home for her.) Two months later, we moved them from their home of 63 years to WC. Prior to that occasion, I made several visits to the facility to move things in and set up the apartment so my parents could settle in immediately. During that time, I got to know many of the staff, and some residents, on a first-name basis. The more I got to know them, the more I liked them. These are serious, gifted, good people who love what they do, and who are very good at what they do. Every resident I talked with made the same comments about the staff—they specifically mentioned having so much affection and appreciation for the direct caregivers, dining/food services staff, and activities available to them. My parents found all this to be consistent with their personal experiences. The options to participate in activities and community gatherings are many and diverse. Their 1-bedroom apartment is cozy and comfortable, with great views of the lower courtyard with its gardens and waterfall. The dining options are on a whole different level. While there is always a main meal offered for each of the three meal times, there also is a large diner/gastropub type menu from which they can order if they don’t want the main offering. Staff here and throughout the entire facility know the residents by first name, and in the dining room even how they take their coffee. One desire I really like is the assistance buttons they gave my parents to wear on their wrists. It doesn’t matter what they need, but if they’d like a caregiver to respond, all they need do is press the button, and it alerts staff to respond to their apartment to help them with even the most minor of needs. These people pay attention to details, and adjust the level of care delivered based upon the needs or improvements demonstrated by the residents. The staff is tireless, always warm and kind, and have gotten to know every little thing about my parents. They exude cheer, and it truly feels like friends and family at WC. Perhaps of greatest importance is that my parents love living at WC. They love the accommodations, food, activities, care provided, and having a community again. They’d become isolated in their home, and needed help long before they would admit as much. Now, they are being well fed with restaurant quality food (I’ve eaten there, and it is great), things to do, people to help them—and above all, they feel seen and heard, and a part of something. I can’t express enough what peace of mind I have, knowing how well they’re cared after. I’m ever grateful for the relationship we have with WC and it’s great people, and can’t imagine a better alternative.

This place is very cozy & clean. The staff is very welcoming, I definitely will recommend this facility to be a safe, loving environment for your elders. Angelina is a very helpful woman on big decisions that could be overwhelming to make, she is very hands on & makes the whole process a very smooth peaceful experience & transition.

Every time I go to wildwood canyon villa I am always greeted with so much love and compassion. This building has always been very involved and cares about their community. Very proud to know them all and call them my friends. Yucaipa is very lucky to have them there to help out their senior community.
