Wellbrooke of Carmel

My mother has been at Wellbrooke of Carmel since April of this year. After a long hospital stay at Riverview Hospital, she had become so debilitated she could not care for herself home alone anymore. We even attempted as a family to keep her in her home. Unfortunately, even though we have 3 nurses in the family, we could no longer provide the care she needed at home. I promised my mother we would "never put her in a nursing home." NEVER SAY NEVER! I have been amazed with her care at Wellbrooke! The entire staff (nurses, techs, food service, housekeeping, administration,...) have been incredible. I visit my mom a few times per week at various times of the day and I always see positive and helpful caregivers who truly care! There are so many activities and events happening daily for residents to join. The picture I have included is of my mother at my son's wedding with his new bride. Lisa Hammons (Life Enrichment Director) made this possible! They have a program which allows a resident to "MAKE A WISH." Without this program, Grandma would not have been able to attend this wedding. They did her nails and make up and, most importantly, transported her to and from the wedding. We were so blessed as a family to be able to include the matriarch of our family! THEY EVEN MADE A BOOK WITH HUNDREDS OF PICTURES! Wow!!! I cried! Thank you Wellbrooke! WE LOVE YOU ALL!

Wellbrooke of Carmel has been a real blessing for my family in their care for my mother. The Wellbrooke staff members are excellent. They are responsive and caring. No question I have asked has gone unanswered and each inquiry has been answered quickly! I would single out specific individuals for special comment but every single person I have dealt with at Welllbrooke of Carmel has been professional, positive and kind. There seems to be a relaxed collegiality among the staff and a calm sense of well-being from the residents. The facility is bright, positive and always active in a purposeful way. Our previous and often negative experiences with another facility has given me a deep sense of appreciation for Wellbrooke of Carmel. I am confident my mother is being well-cared for 🩷

Our family’s experience at this rehabilitation hospital was incredibly disappointing. My mother developed clear signs of delirium and a serious change in her condition, but I felt my repeated concerns were dismissed. When I asked to speak with the nurse, I was told, “I’m beyond stressed. It will have to wait,” and later, “I have two seconds to listen to you.” I ultimately called an ambulance myself because I no longer felt my mother was receiving the care she needed. She was transferred back to the hospital, where she was diagnosed with a worsening infection requiring IV antibiotics and fluids. This facility appeared to be severely understaffed. While I understand healthcare workers are under immense pressure, this is a for-profit rehabilitation hospital, and patients deserve adequate staffing and timely attention. No family should have to fight to have a loved one’s medical concerns taken seriously. I do want to recognize Deandrea, who was compassionate, attentive, and genuinely cared about my mother. She was a bright spot in an otherwise very difficult experience. I hope this facility addresses its staffing and communication issues so other families don’t have to go through what ours did.

I had to spend over a week in rehab at Wellbrooke and the staff was wonderful! They made a really difficult situation better. The therapy staff was top-notch and they really helped me regain strength. Nathan, Kammeron, and Connor were fantastic! Everyone was so caring and they all wanted me to feel comfortable. The nursing staff were great too. Shout out to Yvette for her kindness!I am thankful for my time there.
