My experience at sunrise Senior living has been great I really enjoy the resident service director Marilyn Sephus. She goes above and beyond when it comes to activities and keeping us entertained and for that I am grateful. She cares about everyone. And everyone cares about her. We're very fortunate to have her here as a director. She's extremely thoughtful. And I really appreciated her visiting me at the hospital when I was down not only did she visit but the assistant director Paul came to see me as well I was very grateful for the visit from the both of them.

This place is definitely not all its cracked up to be. I don't have any knowledge of the independent living side, but the assisted living side.. yikes. There are absolutely some friendly people here, and good people who do their job correctly but there are far more that don't. We've been here a little more than a month, and I'm ready to pull my grandpa and go elsewhere. He is pretty independent and because of that, they've taken advantage of it. They don't check on him, they don't make sure he gets to the dining hall, etc. He has missed meals because I'm not here and they will lie about it. I'm his primary care taker and have been for a little bit. That didn't change when I moved in here, and I'm here about 90% of the time but I also have a husband and 4 special needs children that I have to care for, as well, so having him move in here was supposed to HELP me and all it's done is stress me out even more. I have his location on his phone and they've lied about where he was (said he was at the dining hall or had been down there when he absolutely had not). They've let him go without toilet paper, even after I've begged several people a day for some so I ended up just buying his own (which is BS for the amount we pay this place and they're supposed to cover TP and paper towels). And the BIGGEST issue is them not following my grandpa's food plan. When he first got here, I gave them grace because they were learning a new person - I get it. I reached out to the DON about a few things that needed done (chicken needed cut up, etc). Nothing big. A few weeks after being here, we had his appointment with the speech therapist and some things were changed in his diet. Nothing extreme though. Simple things like his pancakes, chicken, etc needed cut. His sandwiches needed cut in 4s instead of halves. His fruit needed to be cut a little smaller. Butter needed to be lathered on his sandwiches and pancakes, gravy on the chicken. And guess what? Nothing is being followed. I reached out to the manager over dietary and he's ignored 2 of my emails. I ended up snapping on some of the dining hall people because I'm tired of it, and now they're treating him blah because of it which is also unacceptable. I finally reached out to the director today and I sure hope things get resolved this way because if not, they're not gonna like the following steps. It's just absolutely ridiculous. I'm so sick of not being able to leave here and KNOW he's taken care of. I have to worry and follow up and check his location when I'm just trying to sleep, or enjoy my family or be at appointments.

I had a new doctor that was not forthcoming in refilling my prescriptions. I called his office several days before I was going to run out of medicine and nothing happened. I called again to ask that we go through a local pharmacy rather than the mail order, because I had run out of my insulin and two other meds. And I waited again! After 10 days, our daughter mentioned my problem to the concierge at Sunrise, and the next day Paul Dworkin authorized our driver to take me to St. Vincent's Express Care with a list of my meds. The doctor there called in an order to our local pharmacy, and Marilyn Sephus accompanied me to make sure they followed through immediately. Sunrise took charge of the situation for me, and I deeply appreciate it.
