Vi at Palo Alto Reviews

For the Vi I am a new resident of Vi at Palo Alto and feel fortunate to have found my way here during a challenging life transition. In 2013, my husband and I uprooted ourselves from Boston, where we had lived for 50 years, to be close to our beloved only child, her husband and their only child, our growing grandson, now a rising high school senior. We bought and furnished a California-style condominium in Menlo Park and settled in happily there, meeting new friends and taking up new projects, while staying close to friends “back east.” But a decade later my husband died suddenly and unexpectedly from a traumatic head injury sustained in a fall. The California home we had created together was filled with painful memories and I began to consider moving. At the Vi, Enrico Galvez and his team welcomed me warmly, brought deep knowledge, strategic counsel, and kindness in guiding me through the intricacies of my decision process. In late September 2026, he was able to expedite a remote purchase of a small Vi unit while I was vacationing at my summer home on Cape Cod. He advised me that a larger apartment might become available in a year or two, then surprised me six months later with the offer of a spacious two-bedroom apartment. I am moving into it now, as I take steps to sell the condominium. Already I have received a warm welcome at the Vi, a lively and active community of interesting people. Each day brings a variety of optional activities and outings and a range of opportunities for meals (the food is delicious). The grounds offer walking paths and views into manicured courtyards framed by many species of iconic California trees. There are many gorgeous hiking and biking trails not far from here. For me and my little dog, the Vi has become a place of healing and of discovery, a place to learn from the stories of strangers who soon become friends, to recover a sense of purpose and to develop the flexibility and resilience to welcome whatever may show up in the time that may lie ahead of me.

My mom has been at Vi for a number of years, across all four areas (independent living, assisted living, skilled nursing and memory care). Her overall experience across all four has been exceptional. The staff is caring and in general competent, especially in memory care where the level of interaction is the highest. The facilities are top notch, everything is well maintained. And the range of programming is great and geared well towards all levels of ability, everything from exercise classes to bingo to excursions.

My husband and I have now lived at Vi Palo Alto 11 years and moving here was the best decision we could have made. The staff is helpful and outstanding, fellow residents are friendly and interesting, the apartments are very nice and there are unlimited activities to keep us engaged both physically and mentally. In addition, we do not have to worry about home maintenance issues and can just close the door and leave when traveling! We couldn't be happier living here.

My mother, who is now 92 and is, in general, pretty good health, moved into The Vi senior living community (Palo Alto, CA) almost 3 years ago (August 2023). Her experience has been exceptional on every level: social, intellectual, secure, supportive, with well -prepared, delicious food. Unfortunately, as she was entering her 3rd year, her memory had deteriorated necessitating a relocation to The Vi's Care Center (Canvas Memory Care unit). Yes, the transition was upsetting but everyone from the Independent Living section (where she was) to the Care Center was truly amazing in ensuring the change was as seamless as possible. As of today, she seems happy and settled in her new environment. She is constantly supported by family members and 3rd party caregivers. In summary, a big, special thank you goes out to all of the support personnel (Valerie, Mark, Bette, etc), nurses (Myra, Tomas, and Camini), activities organizers (Kyle, Brett, and Andy), and most importantly, Neda (Director ofAssisted Living) who personally and professionally manages all aspects of the care needs of each and every resident within the Care Center. I am the son and could not be happier with the care my mother is receiving at this wonderfully run Care Center! Thank you. Sincerely, Marc L.
