My mom moved into the Oakmont in May 2024 (so she has been living there for about a year now). The facility is bright and light. It feels like a nice contemporary hotel and everything is kept immaculate. The rooftop garden is a great amenity and in general there's a good variety of different spaces (bistro, activities room, movie theater). It feels spacious and never claustrophobic. Her apartment is also pleasant and gets lots of natural light. The schedule of activities is full with daily walks, movies, discussions, bridge sessions, exercise classes, and more. I think lots of people have images of senior facilities as grim and sad, and that's not been my experience at the Oakmont at all. I don't live in the Bay Area but have visited maybe eight times over the last year with each visit to California including four or five days of dropping by the Oakmont for meals and to spend time there. A few days ago I stopped by during a trivia competition with margaritas or mock margaritas for anyone who wanted them and it was wonderful how animated and festive it was. Lots of laughter and fun competition. It's what you'd like every senior facility to be like, but they often aren't. (That trivia competition wasn't exceptional for Oakmont, it just especially struck me at that moment that this is not at all like the facility where my grandmother spent her final years.) It's above all else the staff at the Oakmont who make it what it is. From Maria at the front desk to Letty running activities, Ed overseeing nursing services, and Siobhan leading the entire operation, everyone is sincerely warm and caring. I feel like I can trust them without any hesitation to care for my mom and I truly look forward to visits there, which isn't something I expected.

Oakmont is a beautiful and caring place. A family member has lived there for almost a year now. It has been the best experience. His apartment is lovely. He enjoys the food as well as the great activities, entertainment and field trips. The staff is warm and friendly. They are also very communicative and welcoming to me. He is very well cared for and has many new friends. I would thoroughly recommend Oakmont to anyone considering assisted living. He’s never been happier!

My siblings and I moved our mom into Oakmont Redwood City last December and we couldn’t be happier with the care and service she has received. The staff are incredibly compassionate and truly seem to care about the well-being of the residents. She enjoys the wide variety of activities available, like bingo, movie nights, and exercise classes. Oakmont is bright and clean and beautifully decorated with stunning furniture and artwork throughout. It has an outdoor terrace on the third floor with areas to sit to enjoy a warm, sunny day. It has feel of a small, boutique hotel! They offer a variety of delicious, nutritious meals in a beautiful dining room setting. The servers are very friendly and take the time to get to know the residents and their food preferences. We are always welcomed and greeted warmly when dining with our mom. Even though most days she eats at a particular time with a group of friends, the dining room is open all day and into the evening so, if necessary, she can get food even outside of regular mealtimes. In addition to the dining room, there is a bistro with sandwiches, snacks and beverages available throughout the day. The private dining room is available to reserve free of charge for parties of up to 8-10. Our family had Christmas Eve dinner there and enjoyed the delicious food and attentive service. We’ve been impressed with the responsiveness of the care team. They are prompt in responding to any need she has and have really taken the time to get to know her and the things that bring her joy. During her transition, they were particularly accommodating with little things like helping her with her TV and remote control and reminding and escorting her to activities. The maintenance requests are taken care of promptly and the housekeeping staff are delightful. While no living community is perfect, we have been impressed by the responsiveness and communication of the management when addressing our questions or concerns. Someone is always willing to help solve a problem and/or come up with a workable solution. We feel very supported during this ever-changing time of our mom's life. Overall, I highly recommend Oakmont to anyone looking for a warm and caring assisted living facility. It’s been a wonderful experience, and our mom is thriving there.

A nice place but they need more caregivers and more dining room staff. Good things- you can make a lot of good friends. And lots of activities. No sitting idle here. Lots of outings too. Computer museum, Stanford theater, the performing arts center in San Mateo. Movies in the theater every night. Activities all day long. Exercise class daily A friendly place.
