My mother was treated so shabbily she almost died. They saw she had money and got every dime out of her then left her in a corner to rot. Then just because she had a dementia episode they kicked her out. If they can't handle a tiny elderly woman they shouldn't have a " memory care " unit. My mother is a classy southern woman who's from a generation that unlike younger people, was raised to be gentle, genuinely kind and compassionate. She never drank smoked or did drugs. She was fine over the holidays but after a stroke and little forgetful. She fell and spiraled. I've been a caretaker in California for 20 years. No way was my mother so horrible to staff that she couldn't be controlled. I can't be in New Mexico until May. My daughter is there handling this and trusted the staff. Watermark is a chain. The staff was laughing at someone according to my daughter who says she took photos of the nurses who were outside seemingly annoyed with another patient. Thank God I got her into another place. The Retreat is locally owned. That's where she is now and she's doing great. When she passes away, I'll be donating money to a scholarship through her church for anyone who needs to go ANYPLACE but The Watermark. If you love your parents don't send them here. If I was there and had more time, I'd think about suing them.

My mom has been at The Watermark for 5 months. I just love the staff. They are friendly, helpful and caring. Everyone there addresses my mom by her name. My mom is not very social, she has participated in a few crafts and once for bingo. They offer a lot of activities, but my mom won't join in. I need to say that my mom doesn't like the food, she only goes to lunch and it takes over an hour for the meal to be ordered, served, eaten and waiting on the dessert cart. My mom has almost fully recovered from the fall and surgery that necessitated assisted living. She will be moving at the end of the month to an independent living apartment. If needed, I would bring my mom back to The Watermark.

Working with Kelly Nobbs the Activities Director has been a refreshing experience. Partnering with her was easy and she was so accommodating. Super blessed to have a relationship with her and the residents at Watermark.

We placed my mom (89) in this lovely Assisted Living facility in June 2024. We live in Las Vegas, NV. I toured all the LV facilities and was left disappointed and disillusioned by what was offered. I had to look out of state and ended up in Albuquerque. My mom is from New Mexico and her best friend for 70 years also lives in the ABQ area. So I toured a bunch of facilities in Albuquerque. Not only were they nicer and had more aminities than Vegas, they were also newer and cheaper. Farther away than I would like but her happiness with her living situation is very important at this stage of her life. I did not want her to feel ‘warehoused.’ I chose Watermark because of the friendliness of the staff, residents, and the volume of activities offered. The overall feel is modern and efficient. The apartments are very nice and large enough to feel like a true apartment. Mom feels very independent while also safe and attended. Mom is picky about food and about friends. She has liked both so far while adjusting to her new living situation. She is busy! And seems to be really thriving. Brooke K. was invaluable in helping me place mom in this facility. Just about everything promised has been delivered. No place is perfect and all senior care facilities have staffing issues. That is just the nature of the beast, so to speak. Kelly and Amanda keep the residents occupied and Karen at the front desk knows all and sees all. Nurse Lisa keeps everyone healthy and Seth makes sure things run smoothly. They and the office staff are the backbone of the facility. I have no regrets just wish there was a similar facility closer to where we live.
