The Waterford on Huebner

I find the Waterford on Huebner, in San Antonio Texas is a wonderful place to live. I Live in a beautiful one bedroom home. It is cleaned by our maid service every week, and i have all the amenities that are kept up-to-date. The staff is very courteous and the Department heads, such as the Activity Director, who develops a monthly calendar with a myriad of activities for the residence, are very conscientious of the needs of the residence. The food is good, and we get three meals a day, and snacks, developed by our three very experienced chefs! These are only a few things that I like about the Waterford. I live very comfortably here and I am very happy and proud to call it ‘My home’.

Its been a wonderful second home for my mother. The front desk, or Residential Specialists, as I have come to call them, are truly amazing. They do everything in their power to ensure all residents are heard, and especially that they're safe and accounted for. I have personally seen each staff member, repeatedly going out of his/her way, to assist in some fashion. The food, what can I say, it's the best part. There are always plenty of options, and the chef is a true chef. The administration, as well, has bent over backwards, helping my mother and myself. Over these last few months, I sadly lost my sister. The amount of assistance and understanding during those initial days and weeks, made that devastating time, manageable. I don't think I could thank each and everyone of them enough. Thank you Waterford on Huebner, you've been such a blessing.

Nothing I knew about senior independent or assisted community living could have prepared me for the Waterford on Huebner. When I pulled up, I was awe struck by the beautiful tree's surrounding what looked like a very nice apartment complex. My thoughts although not completely positive, as I have been in many types of care facilities and everything from the attitude of the staff there, as well as the odor left a lot to be desired. In those places my prayer was God please take me before I end up here! The Waterford on Huebner was such a wonderful experience from the moment I walked through the door. To my left there was a dinning area with beautiful hanging chandeliers and tables draped in white table cloths covered in glass. The people were chatting and laughing as they ate what looked to be a goumet meal. There were wait staff dressed in black, engaging with the dinners. The only thing missing were the white napkins draped across their forearms…lol The lady at the front desk was warm and welcoming. In the lobby there was a vendor displaying her wares, rings, necklaces earrings and beautiful scarfs. It reminded me of something you would see in an upscale hotel. Kelly ( the lady that gave me my tour ) was very informative, she took her time to learn about me. Not intrusive at all, just a very nice conversation. Before I left I made my way back to the dinning area, I went to the table filled with the most people and asked them what they like about the Waterford. One women who has been here several years told me everything and that she would not want to live anywhere else, a lady that had only been here for a month, told me she loved that it was such an active community always so much to do, and she also loved that if she did not want to participate that was fine as well. What I learned from that first hand information was this is not a nursing facility, it a community of like minded people coming together in love and respect. Getting older is not always easy, and change can be difficult. The Waterford has made my transitioning at this time in my life so much less complicated. I have something to look forward to again. I truly thank them from the bottom of my heart. I have been here for 10 days now. I love it more now then I first did..

My name is David D. I have lived at The Waterford on Huebner for almost 3 years. The place is beautiful and the staff is very very nice we do lots of activities games and outings. My story is different from most here I worked here 20 years ago as a driver. I would recommend this place too all of my friends and anyone else that needs to place they can call home.
