The Solana East Cobb

My father has been at Solana East Cobb for a little over 5 years now. Overall it has been a very good experience. The staff is friendly and responsive. The building is pleasant to be in and there are green spaces outside to enjoy. Everyone knows my dad and tries to engage with him, even though his dementia can make that difficult. The staff is aware of his peculiarities and do their best to accommodate him. No communal living facility is perfect, but Solana East Cobb is working hard to be the best in the area. We are glad that this is where we were able to move Dad when he needed memory care.

From the moment I walked into Solana East Cobb, it was clear that this wasn't just a senior living community - it is vibrant, welcoming, and filled with warmth. The staff treat residents with genuine kindness and respect, creating a family-like atmosphere where everyone is valued. The amenities are truly 5 STAR; the grounds are beautifully maintained and offers peaceful seated areas that encourage outdoor relaxation. Inside, the community is immaculate and thoughtfully designed with cozy common areas. Solana East Cobb doesn't just meet industry standards - they exceed them!

Unfortunately we did not have a great experience at the memory care at The Solana east cobb for my dad. I kept going back and forth on whether I should write a review so I gave it several months to see how his new place handled things and without a doubt I would not recommend the memory care at The Solana East Cobb. Back story is my dad had a stroke and he could no longer live alone. He had memory issues affected so they suggested memory care. We toured several places and felt like solana was a great fit! It appeared very clean and shiny and new which I thought was great! My dad was with it a good amount of the time and would tell us things that happened. He got very depressed. The staff in memory care was mostly nice, but not very skilled if you ask me for memory care residents. Very little interaction was had. It's also a larger community with over 30 residents maybe even 40 in their memory care side. It definitely seemed chaotic and not under control a good bit of the time. Specifically for memory care a smaller resident to staff ratio would be better. My sister and I visited often and on several occasions we would walk in to staff members having open air arguments in front of the residents which was very unprofessional. The biggest issue we had with the memory care at The Solana was the fact they would mess up my dad's medications frequently. If you have a loved one currently there on multiple medications and or if they are being changed frequently I'd highly recommend requesting the MAR which shows you what meds are being dispensed at exact times. My dad has Parkinson's and needed medications at specific times of the day and also had frequent changes that they could never keep up with. You would think this is something a facility should be able to handle? The resident care director Shelia was incredibly rude and lacked compassion. She not so eloquently told us my dad may need skilled nursing or even a psychiatric facility at one point. It was as if my dad was a burden to them. My sister and I were appalled by the lack of sympathy in a very high anxiety time. It was after that interaction with Shelia that we decided to move my dad to a new facility. It's been several months now that my dad has been at his new place and I cannot say enough how happy we are!! It is a night and day experience. My dad even tells us how drastically better his new place is and that everyone is so nice to him compared to the solana. His new place handles his medication dispensing and changes effortlessly. Which makes me so sad to think he was previously at a place we had trusted to take care of him. Looking back what I thought was shiny and new was in fact just a facade.

We have the pleasure of partnering with Solana East Cobb to provide hospice services for their residents and families and it has been a wonderful experience. The team at Solana is compassionate, attentive and dedicated to delivering outstanding care. Their longevity and consistency in staff speak volumes about their commitment to quality.
