Our Mom just moved into the Sheridan River Forest and we’ve had a very pleasant experience thus far. It is a new building with a cozy atmosphere for the residents and guests. The daily activities are fun and can keep one busy throughout the day. From the start, Leslie has been extremely accommodating and welcoming to our Mom and our entire family. This transition would not have been as smooth without Leslie‘s help; she really went above and beyond and continues to do so for our Mom as she gets acclimated to her new setting. All of the staff we’ve been in contact with thus far have been kind and helpful. We are grateful to everyone who has made this transition so smooth for our mom.

One Star - Deeply Disappointed with The Sheridan at River Forest I don’t normally write reviews, but I feel strongly that families deserve to know the truth before trusting The Sheridan at River Forest with their loved ones. My experience with this facility has been deeply disappointing. While it may look beautiful from the outside, the way things are run behind the scenes tells a very different story. The treatment of residents is unacceptable—there’s a clear lack of respect, patience, and compassion from some of the staff. I’ve personally witnessed residents being spoken to rudely, even yelled at, which is heartbreaking to see in a place that’s supposed to feel like home. The morning concierge, in particular, often has an attitude and is unnecessarily rude. First impressions matter, and that’s not the welcome residents or their families should be getting. What’s even more frustrating is the lack of accountability. If you have concerns, there’s no one above the director to talk to. It feels like there’s no real system in place to support or protect the residents, and any complaints seem to go nowhere. Reading other reviews, I know I’m not alone in this feeling. It’s clear that others have had similar experiences. It’s also sad to see that many of the warm, dedicated staff members who helped make the place feel cozy and comforting are now gone. Without them, the atmosphere has changed completely—and not for the better. This place needs serious guidance, leadership, and oversight. Until those changes are made, I would not recommend The Sheridan at River Forest to any family looking for compassionate care for their loved ones.

RUDE. I just had a very rude experience with the concierge. Her name was Lisa . I proceed to ask about an application I put in and she sigh very loudly and told me she’ll transfer me to HR . INSTEAD SHE HUNG UP THE PHONE on me . I continue to call back and the phone did nothing but ring until voicemail. This is very unacceptable and unprofessional. I can’t believe this is who people have to talk to and see . A very nasty attitude. She need to be fired .

Michael Dubina has been amazing this past year as we looked to find a new community for my father, whose health is declining. The Sheridan came highly recommended by a colleague who had a loved one living in the community. While my father chose a different option, I could not have asked for a greater professional experience. Michael was helpful, knowledgeable, empathetic, relatable, patient and understanding. He truly knows how to meet families where they are in their journey. I would highly recommend!
