The Palisades at Broadmoor Park

We recently toured the The Palisades Senior Living Community with my dad, and Katelyn provided such an outstanding experience from start to finish. She truly went above and beyond to make my dad feel welcomed, comfortable, and supported throughout the visit. One of the most thoughtful things she arranged was lunch with a current resident who happened to be the same age as my dad and had also lived in the same town for many years. They connected immediately, and it made such a meaningful impact on my dad to hear firsthand about life in the community from someone he could genuinely relate to. Katelyn’s kindness, professionalism, and attention to detail were evident the entire time. She created an environment that felt warm, personal, and caring rather than just a standard tour. We left feeling very appreciative of the time and effort she put into making the visit special. Thank you again, Katelyn, for such a positive experience.

We moved my in laws to the Palisades about a year ago, into assisted living. We chose it after touring about a dozen other options in Colorado Springs, primarily because of its size (not too big or small) and location (lovely views, convenient to us). It's never easy to trust someone with your loved ones but the staff there has shown great care and attention. I won't be able to list everyone but we've been particularly impressed by Cora, Melanie, Kayla, Nathan and Alika. Cora has gone above and beyond repeatedly, helping my mother in law make a phone call or find her purse, or just soothing her when she was confused. The staff’s warmth and care was especially evident when we needed to bring in hospice for my father in law as as he passed. The leadership has undergone alot of change since we arrived and it was a bit bumpy to understand who to contact/for what, but when we really needed them, they have been there. Thank you also to Ashley and Michaela for your kindness and professionalism.

I strongly urge families to carefully consider their options before placing a loved one in this facility’s memory care unit. As a private caregiver, I supported a client there for over a year and repeatedly encountered serious concerns regarding resident safety and overall quality of care. One ongoing issue involved another resident repeatedly entering my client’s room and engaging in inappropriate behavior toward her. This was reported to upper management, including Michaela and Fran, and we were told that residents have the “right to choose.” In a memory care setting—where individuals often cannot give informed consent—this response was extremely concerning. The family repeatedly requested that the resident be kept out of her room, yet the issue continued. Ultimately, the family had to increase private supervision and implement additional safeguards (including security cameras) just to keep her safe. There were also ongoing issues with basic care services. Housekeeping and hygiene services were frequently missed despite being paid for, and staff attentiveness was inconsistent. It was not uncommon to see staff disengaged while residents required supervision. During a recent illness outbreak, multiple residents passed away within a short period of time (public information). Families should ask detailed questions about infection control practices and outcomes during that time. I also witnessed a resident who wandered frequently and suffered a serious fall resulting in a broken femur. After returning from the hospital, her condition declined rapidly and end-of-life measures were implemented shortly afterward. Tragically, she passed away alone. This raised significant concerns about care decisions and oversight. Given my professional experience in home health and memory care, I have never encountered this level of concern. I strongly encourage families to ask detailed questions about safety protocols, supervision, staffing, and care standards before making a decision.
