The Montevista at Coronado

Finding the right memory care community for someone you love is an incredibly emotional journey. After an extensive search for the right place for my mother, finding Monte Vista at Coronado has given our family an incredible sense of comfort and peace. Before making this decision, we exhausted every avenue to allow my mother to remain in her own home. We hired private caregivers through two different agencies, genuinely believing home was the best place for her. But despite our efforts, we could see that she simply was not thriving. Since coming to Monte Vista, the difference has been remarkable. My mother is thriving again. She has made friends she genuinely loves, has companionship, and once again has a sense of community, purpose, and belonging. From the beginning, the transition was effortless. I never felt I was navigating it alone—it felt as though a family member was holding my hand every step of the way. Darla was exceptional. She patiently answered every question and concern with kindness, reassurance, and genuine compassion. The staff are extraordinary—kind, patient, compassionate, and incredibly intuitive to each resident’s individual needs. They anticipate the little things and treat the residents with dignity and genuine affection. That thoughtfulness extends to the dining experience. Meals are carefully prepared with nutrition and well-being in mind, and the chef doesn’t simply prepare their food—he engages with the residents, knows them, and genuinely cares about the people he is cooking for. I am equally impressed by the Memory Care programming. Activities aren’t simply scheduled to fill the day; they are thoughtfully planned around purpose, mindfulness, physical activity, and meaningful engagement, nurturing the mind, body, and spirit. The staff even created a beautiful personalized welcome nameplate for my mother’s room. A small gesture perhaps, but one that immediately made her room feel like her home. Perhaps the greatest compliment I can give Monte Vista is this: every time we visit, I don’t feel as though I’m walking into a memory care facility. I feel as though I’m walking into the home of a trusted family member who is taking exceptional care of my mother. We tried very hard to make home care work. What I’ve learned is that remaining at home isn’t necessarily the same thing as truly living. My mother needed more than care—she needed friendship, stimulation, purpose, routine, activity, and community. At Monte Vista, she has found those things. To Darla, the chef, the caregivers, and the entire Monte Vista team: thank you for giving our family the priceless gift of knowing that my mother is not simply being cared for—she is being cared about. ❤️

The team here is absolutely amazing. I have enjoyed everything about this community. From the views to the food, my goodness the food. Very active community and their memory care is genuine and led with purpose. I encourage you to take a peek for yourself. I am sure you will not be disappointed.

Monte Vista at Coronado is absolutely INCREDIBLE!!! The staff, especially Darla Martinez, have gone above and beyond for my mother and our family helping all of us to feel comfortable with moving our mom to from her home to MV. Exceptional care was taken to get my mom settled, comfortable and established in her new apartment. She is adjusted very quickly, has made new friends and knows she is right where she should be. We are BEYOND grateful for Darla and all of her with the process of it all. I just can’t say enough wonderful things about Monte Vista!!

Monte Vista has been the best "medicine" for my mom since her stroke a year ago. The community atmosphere provided exactly the stimulation she needed to make incredible progress and return to her old self. My kids have nicknamed it "Camp Grandma" because of the nonstop schedule of fun activities—everything from root beer floats and daily happy hour to shuttle rides to opera and orchestra performances. The food is good and included, but the real standout is the staff; everyone is incredibly lovely, patient, and kind. Best of all is weekly apartment cleaning, concierge trash pick up, and maintenance staff that happily hang paintings to EXACT specifications—all included! I cannot recommend Montevista highly enough!
