The Lakeside at Amelia

If you are looking for a memory care community on Amelia Island that truly treats residents like family, I cannot recommend the Memory Care unit at Lakeside of Amelia highly enough. Both of my parents were residents there, and from day one they were cared for in a beautiful, safe, and genuinely supportive environment. The manager, Dee Jones, is outstanding. She leads with professionalism, compassion, and attention to detail, and it shows in every part of the unit. Dee and her entire staff, including the CNA team and the pharmacy support, consistently went out of their way to make sure my parents were checked on, comfortable, and treated with dignity. Meals were timely, needs were anticipated, and there was always a sense that someone was paying attention, not simply “working a shift.” I also appreciated how intentional they were about keeping residents engaged. The activities were not an afterthought. They made a real effort to involve my parents in daily routines and programming in a way that matched their abilities and helped preserve quality of life. As both of my parents’ needs progressed and they required hospice, Lakeside of Amelia handled that transition with care and coordination. Having the Nurse Practitioner involved and working alongside Community Hospice eased what could have been an extremely difficult change, and it brought our family a lot of comfort and reassurance. This team did not simply provide care. They provided steadiness, kindness, and real support when it mattered most. I had the absolute pleasure of participating in an event and it was such a wonderful experience! The community is professionally run from top to bottom — beautifully organized, welcoming, and full of warmth. The staff went above and beyond to make everything run smoothly, and the residents were an absolute joy to spend time with. The facility itself is truly luxurious, offering a clean, elegant, and comfortable environment that feels like home with the amenities of a five-star resort. You can tell that great care goes into every detail, from the dining and activities to the sense of community they’ve built. It was a joy to be part of such a fun and meaningful event, and I can’t say enough great things about this beautiful place. Lakeside of Amelia is a beautiful place with a variety of accommodations available. It has a wonderful outdoor area that backs up to the lake and is perfect for just relaxing in the sun. Lots of wildlife to enjoy. I personally love the turtles. There are plenty of daily activities to help you pass the time; opportunities for fitness/wellness, games, life enrichment and a chance to be social. The residents and staff alike are welcoming and engaging. Overall, it’s a much needed and valued part of the island, a lovely place to age gracefully.
