I recently had the pleasure of touring this community and was truly impressed. It’s clean, warm, and inviting—with a classic feel complemented by thoughtful, modern touches. The care team is attentive and genuinely kind-hearted, and the overall atmosphere feels like home. I also had the chance to sample the food, which was excellent! Ellis gave us a wonderful tour—informative, welcoming, and thorough. It was clear how much pride he takes in the community and the care they provide. As someone who helps families find the right senior living options through my company, Senior Living Placement, I always look for communities that combine quality care with a strong sense of compassion and comfort. This one absolutely stands out, and I would confidently recommend it to the families I work with.

After my 80-year-old father spent two months at the VA hospital, finding the right assisted living community became our top priority. The Gables of Jacksonville has exceeded all our expectations, and I cannot recommend it highly enough. From the moment we contacted The Gables, Ellis McDonald, the Sales Director, showed exceptional dedication and compassion. Ellis went above and beyond to understand my father's specific needs and concerns after his extended hospitalization. He patiently answered our endless questions about care levels, amenities, and the transition process. What truly sets Ellis apart is his genuine interest in the residents. He took time to learn about my father's military service, his hobbies, and his medical requirements. Ellis then created a personalized transition plan that made my father's move from the hospital to The Gables seamless and stress-free. The community itself is stunning - bright, open spaces with beautiful common areas as shown on their website. The proximity to Mayo Clinic (just half a mile away) gives our family tremendous peace of mind. The staff-to-resident ratio is excellent, and everyone from the caregivers to the dining team has been attentive and professional. My father has only been at The Gables for a short time, but I've already noticed significant improvements in his mood and overall wellbeing. The restaurant-style dining, full-service amenities, and calendar of activities have helped him regain a sense of independence and community. The food here is absolutely amazing and my father raves about it daily. If you're considering assisted living options in Jacksonville, I strongly encourage you to visit The Gables and ask for Ellis McDonald. His expertise, compassion, and dedication to resident satisfaction make him an invaluable resource during what can be a challenging transition for many families. I must also highlight the extraordinary leadership of Joyce Latimer, the community manager at The Gables. Joyce runs this facility with remarkable efficiency while maintaining a warm, family-like atmosphere. During our initial tours, Joyce personally greeted us and shared her vision for resident care that focuses on dignity and independence. She regularly checks in with my father and remembers small details about his preferences and routine. Joyce's open-door policy and hands-on management style ensure that residents and families always feel heard and valued. Equally impressive is Courtney Robertson, the medical director. Her expertise in geriatric care is evident in every interaction. Courtney took extensive time reviewing my father's medical history from the VA hospital and developed a comprehensive care plan tailored to his specific health challenges. She coordinated with the hospital staff, arranged transportation, and ensured my father's room was perfectly set up before arrival. She coordinates seamlessly with his doctors at Mayo Clinic and provides our family with clear, thoughtful updates. What stands out most about Courtney is her genuine empathy - she treats each resident not just as a patient but as a person with unique needs and wishes. With Ellis handling the transition, Joyce overseeing daily operations, and Courtney managing healthcare needs, my father couldn't be in better hands. Thank you to this exceptional leadership team and the entire staff at The Gables of Jacksonville for providing my father with such outstanding care and support.

It's been four years since my father was a resident here in the memory care facility. He lasted 4 days before he was transported to hospice and died days later. He had severe early-onset Alzheimer's and we had made the very hard decision to house him here. We felt comfortable with Dayna and the staff and the emotional toll had become overwhelming for our family to continue caretaking at home. It was especially hard that we were not able to visit him since it was amid the 2020 pandemic. Once he got there, he essentially had a mental breakdown. They sent him to the hospital multiple times. Thankfully, Dayna was communicative with us, but we felt extremely helpless. One of the times I called for information, one of the head nurses answered and told me that she had worked in this environment for 10 years and had never seen anything like this. To say that was not comforting, was an understatement. I ended up calling the Alzheimer's Association and they said that this was very normal behavior for someone in late-stage dementia. They were very comforting, unlike the head nurse here. It was a shame that even the "experts" did not know how to handle my father's condition. It is excruciating having to leave your loved one in the care of others. I hope this head nurse continues with more compassion in the future. Additionally, I felt like they were overly eager to get him back into their facility even though he was told he had days left to live. The sales lady was more concerned about the check rather than our loved one who was dying. The reason for two stars and not one is for Dayna - thank you for doing your best with my dad and for coming to his funeral. Thank you for caring. I hope that this review helps others with their tough decision.
