My father-in-law has been at the Lakes in Litchfield since the end of March 2025. We wanted to move him closer to us, and we met with Shanon Moore at The Lakes. Shanon met us “where are feet were”, she understood what we had been going through, and our concerns for our next steps. Shanon was beyond exceptional, as has been the entire team at The Lakes. My father-in-law started in the skilled nursing area of The Lakes, and has transitioned into the memory care unit. Shanon and her team have helped guide us every step of the way, as this was our first experience with an aging parent that needed around the clock care. It is a challenge to put into “just words”, how much Shannon and The Lakes have meant to our family. The care team at The Lakes could not be better. We are there to see my father-in-law at least once a day, and we know all of his caregivers by their first names. The level of concern and support these caregivers provide is amazing. So many of them call the residents “ their people”, and they treat them as valued family members. We know that if you’re reading this review, you are likely in a similar spot that we were in, trying to make the best decisions for someone who has always made the best decisions for you. It is not easy, and can be very overwhelming. We would always be a reference for The Lakes. You owe it to yourself and your family member to meet with Shanon and her team, and take the tour.

I am not easily impressed. Even so, a recent exception to that occurred when I met Shanon Moore, Lifestyle Advisor, for a tour of The Lakes at Litchfield's assisted living and memory care facilities. Shanon listened patiently and empathically as I explained my circumstances. Her reactions, suggestions and comments were informative and helpful. On the tour, I saw well-designed and maintained facilities. But, more importantly, I was pleased to see how Shanon interacted with residents and staff, Impressive. In today's world when good customer service can seem to be the exception rather than the rule, Shanon excelled at demonstrating genuine compassion and professionalism. David Saunders

Having known several people who have moved to The Lakes and having gone on a tour myself for my aging parents, I know that The Lakes offers individual home living (cottages), apartment living (villas) and assisted living. This is an excellent feature as one moves through different phases. The social calendar is remarkable, and the daily social hour gets those who want to be, out and about. There are field trips and the beach is less than two miles away. It’s in an excellent location with residents that care about each other.

We decided to plan for a long term, active, and stimulating old age as we realized we are at that point. We found the ideal place at our ideal location. The Lakes At Litchfield between Litchfield and Pawleys Island, South Carolina is our perfect residence to see us through the rest of our lives. Lovely cottages or villas for independent living , assisted living accomodations when the time comes, memory care if ever required, along with physical therapy facilities and entertainment activities fit all our needs as we age. The admin staff, care-givers, support staff, lovely dining room and pub offering great food prepared by a great chef and kitchen staff all complete the scenario. We couldn't be happier and look forward to the future at the Lakes At Litchfield. Come join us for friendships and fun! The Kahls at the Lakes
