My mom was a resident at the Hampton’s memory care facility for 15 months. I had previously given this institution a 5-star review. The Koelsch corporate office eliminated the bowel care of all residents at the end of 2024 but they did not communicate this change to the families of the residents. The prior plan was that there was a standing order for things like enemas, laxatives, etc. that the nurses could use as needed to keep the resident’s bowels moving. They also kept track of bowel movements. As I mentioned, they eliminated the bowel tracking and treatments but no families were notified of it. My mom has chronic problems with constipation. She was fine because they were managing it and then all the sudden, at the start of 2025, I noticed a sharp decline in her health. She was also complaining of flank pain (she has chronic UTI problems as well) and her belly was hard and distended. I started talking to the head nurse, Kelly, about what was going on with my mom. Some magnesium citrate was given (but I had to request it to be given) and my mom did poop a little, but the constipation promptly came back. She also continued to complain of flank pain. So I started asking more in-depth questions. Is she being given her regular daily doses of magnesium? What about her prophylactic antibiotic to prevent the UTI’s? Why is constipation all the sudden an issue? Can you test her for a UTI please because she is complaining of flank pain and that is an indicator of a UTI. Kelly did not inform me of the new bowel policies and did address any of my mom’s problems. My mom continued to decline. I made the decision to take my mom to Urgent Care where she was diagnosed with a UTI and severe constipation via x-ray. The results from the visit were given to Kelly and she said she would give my mom an enema that night. I arrived the next day and no enema had been given and at this point I still hadn’t been told about the change in bowel policies and that I would need a doctor’s order (not recommendation) for the enema. Finally two of the other nurses explained to me, over several conversations and several days, what was going on with the bowel policy changes. We saw my mom’s doctor and she ordered them to resume all previous bowel care. The constipation finally started to be dealt with, but it was another nurse, not Kelly, that finally started to address the problem. The UTI was still a serious problem though. The urgent care doc had prescribed Bactrim for the UTI, but my mom wasn’t responding to it. My mom was weak from all of this and took a fall, fracturing her L3 vertebrae. The following week she started to show signs of sepsis from the UTI. At that point I decided to treat her myself until we could get her back in to see her doctor again. I started dosing my mom with a potent broad spectrum systemic herbal antibiotic (I have medical training). The sepsis symptoms were gone within 6 hours. I continued to dose her myself because the Hampton cannot give her the herbs unless they have a doctor order for it. We saw my mom’s doctor again and her doctor decided to stick with the herbs since they were working. She prescribed a 7.5mL dose to be given TID. At that dosage an 8 oz bottle (240mL) should last about 10 days. I gave a full unopened 240mL bottle of herbs to the Hampton on 2/11/25. On 2/20/25 I brought another bottle of herbs to the Hampton. The first bottle was still 2/3 full. Meaning they either weren’t giving it to her or weren’t dosing it properly or both. My mom’s doctor (who is a mandatory reporter of elder abuse) had previously reported them to APS after the constipation debacle but before this most recent refusal to care for my mother. They simply aren’t doing their job nor are they willing to be accountable for not doing it. Instead, there has been A LOT of gaslighting coming my way about all of this from both Kelly and Angie. But you can’t gaslight the results of an x-ray and you can’t gaslight dosage mathematics. Bottom line: the Hampton cannot be trusted with your elder. I recommend avoiding this facility at all costs.

My experience with the Hampton and Ashley Inn has been nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we walked through the doors, we felt an overwhelming sense of warmth and compassion. The staff here genuinely care about the residents, treating each one with dignity, respect, and a deep understanding of their unique needs. The facility itself is clean, well-maintained, and thoughtfully designed to create a safe and comfortable environment for those with memory challenges. I am incredibly grateful for the kindness and professionalism shown by everyone at the Hampton and Ashley Inn. It’s a place where you can trust that your loved one is not just cared for, but truly cared about. The staff are so kind, they feel like family.

My loved one stays at The Ashley Inn for respite care. Bri, Angie, Melody and Mary are always very welcoming and very sweet to my loved one. They brighten my day which means a lot. Also, a big thank you to nurse Keely and all of the caregivers.

The Hampton and Ashley Inn offers both Assisted Living as well as secured Memory Care. The staff are thoughtful and kind, the community is well maintained and clean. It is obvious that this community cares deeply for the residents that live there. Bri is helpful and goes above and beyond to help families move their loved ones into this safe community. I love that they offer a HOPE Dementia support group on site. And they have the option for short term respite care in addition to long term permanent care.
