The Glenwood Assisted Living of Mahomet

My husband and I have lived at Glenwood Assisted Living in Mahomet for 8 months, and I would love to share our experience with anyone considering living here or placing a loved one here. As a very independent and family-oriented couple, my husband and I reached a point where ongoing health struggles forced us to consider different living arrangements. We wanted a place that would allow us to maintain our independence while also providing a safe and supportive environment. Deciding to move to an assisted living facility was not easy. It involved many conversations with our family and with each other, but it became clear that we could no longer live alone safely in the environment we were in. With our previous living arrangements, we had very little social life beyond family visits, and everyday tasks were becoming increasingly difficult. Running errands, grocery shopping, preparing meals, and even keeping up with housekeeping had all become overwhelming. Our home was not handicapped equipped for accessibility, parking was often difficult, and we had no nearby neighbors who could help in an emergency or with seasonal tasks like snow removal or yard work. We realized there were many things we could no longer do the way we once had. Life was changing and coming to terms with that reality was incredibly difficult. We hoped to remain in Mahomet, but we were open to moving elsewhere if we found the right fit. We contacted several places, yet we kept coming back to Glenwood. Their team consistently followed up, answered our questions, and went the extra mile to reassure us that we would be cared for, valued, and welcomed. The facility felt cozy, and everyone we met was so inviting. We spent nearly a year deciding whether assisted living was truly the right move for us, and throughout that process, the Glenwood staff and administration continued to assure us that everything would be okay and that we would have no regrets. They were absolutely right! Once we made the decision to move to assisted living, and we chose Glenwood, it quickly became clear that it was one of the best decisions we have ever made. We now enjoy weekly housekeeping, on-site maintenance, and laundry services. Glenwood also offers a beauty salon/barber shop, an exercise room, and even a movie theater. The three daily meals and snacks are filling, satisfying, and delicious. We now have a very active social life, with opportunities to enjoy bingo, crafts, jigsaw puzzles, card games, Friday evening gatherings, Sunday church, and many other activities. Veterans are especially honored here with a biscuit-and-gravy breakfast and recognition on the last Friday of each month. Family members are included in so much, from holiday celebrations to monthly family bingo, and loved ones are always welcome to visit. The staff go above and beyond to make every resident feel loved and at home. Glenwood offers everything we need—and more than we ever expected. We still have the privacy of apartment living, and we were able to decorate our space so it truly feels like home. We have also gained an extended family in the other Glenwood residents. Most importantly, we now have the safety and security of living in an all-inclusive community that provides the 24-hour personal care assistance we so badly needed before moving here. It is such a relief to know we can depend on the friendly, caring, helpful, family-oriented administration, caregivers, and staff. We are confident we made the right decision moving into Glenwood Assisted Living. Rather than losing our independence, we found greater peace of mind, support, an extended family, and security.

Absolutely amazing place that puts their entire heart and soul in their residents and staff. I trust then beyond words and highly recommend to anyone looking for a wonderful life full on hands on care and socialization. My family is blessed!

Moved my mother into Glenwood after a bad experience at another local facility, where her emotional and physical health shockingly declined. At Glenwood, mom has regained so much!! She once again enjoys & claps to music. She attends activities, and socializes. Mom sits in the hallway to watch people going and coming, and not miss anything. (Unlike another person's previous review...I am well informed by staff & mom's visitors of why she's in the hallway). Mom's regained her appetite, especially with the aid & attentiveness of the staff. Her physical & mental status have vastly improved! No one could ask or expect a Better Administration or Staff!! They ALSO get FIVE STARS!!! ! I know several local residents who live there and are so happy with the "homey" atmosphere and people. Our friends call me to update and praise Glenwood for the change & improvement they've seen in my mother. With my recent near-death surgery, I deeply appreciate the Administration & Staff keeping my husband and me updated. I HIGHLY recommend Glenwood Assisted Living at Mahomet, IL!!! 😊

All I have to say about The Glenwood, is it's family. The care staff is amazing, the cooking is just like your mom and grandma used to make. They have a live band that comes and lots of fun activities. So come join us at The Glenwood and extend your family.
