Staff struggle interacting with Alzheimers patients. They need a great deal of training on de-escalation techniques, how to approach an Alzheimers patient, how to encourage them with normal activities of daily living. They do not have access to any cleaning supplies on afternoon and night shift. The cleaners are locked up and no staff have a key except day shift housekeeping. They rely on family to come in and clean rooms as needed. The toilet and bathrooms are rarely cleaned. They do not have working phones at times due to not paying bills on time. They allow CNA staff to pass out medications to patients including anti-anxiety medications. They do not encourage patients to eat and often leave food plates with old food in patient rooms for days at a time. If patients are very independent and need very little assistance, then this might be an ok place. If patients are at moderate stage of Alzheimers then this place would not be a good fit.

For skilled nursing, Like so many locations, the staff is spread thin. There as some really awesome caring cna’s and nurses. The meals are typical institution meals. Family caregivers need to advocate for the patients they love.

Our parents both moved into The Gardens at Park Point Assisted living and we are so happy with the care they received. They both had totally different needs and were able to be right next to one another in the memory care unit. The only issue we had was that the next nursing home attached to the building would not accept Dad after his second stroke. We were very upset about this as we were told that they could handle all levels of care, and the hospital had to find us another nursing home for Dad. Luckily it was close by but having to separate them was heartbreaking. Mom stayed in the assisted living at the gardens throughout her hospice care and the staff was wonderful. The facility was always clean and the residents well cared for. It was a wonderful home for Mom and she enjoyed giving the staff nick names. We were so relieved to have her somewhere so pleasant and well cared for. We had no idea how difficult care for the elderly would be. Please always show contracts to a lawyer and if you are POA always sign it behind your name. Also hospice services are available for a very long time and can help your family were ever they are living for years. We always thought it was only for your last weeks but that is not the case. Mom would have been able to use their services for years because of her dementia. The hospitals do not tell you that. Hospice worked flawlessly with the Gardens staff and we were very grateful for the wonderful care Mom received.
