The Cottages of Fox Lake - A Charter Senior Living Community - is a unique, retirement lifestyle which opened in 2005. Located on a beautiful campus, each of the four assisted living and memory care homes caters to only 16 residents. Our residents can feel the warmth of home and experience individualized attention. The Cottages of Fox Lake promotes maximum independence but offers assistance to those who have difficulty with any aspect of daily living. A variety of activities are structured to meet individual needs and desires. We provide laundry, housekeeping and delicious home-cooked meals. Staff is available to assist residents 24-hours per day. We have nurses and certified dementia practitioners on-site. The Cottages of Fox Lake maintains a focus on the issues of health and wellness facing our residents and their families. When my sister developed COPD and it became obvious that she could no longer live on her own and be 100% responsible for her self-care, we searched diligently for an assisted living facility that wasn't too far from family and yet would provide a homey, supportive atmosphere. It has been three years now, and we couldn't be more pleased with The Cottages. From Kristen, the director, to the nurses, and Amber, the activity director, all have been very supportive and helpful. There are always activities for her to do which keeps her active and I believe has helped her become even more engaged and healthier than when she lived on her own.

Moving our parents here was an excellent decision. They had lived in a standard assisted living until our mom's dementia became worse, and now our parents live in two separate cottages here at Fox Lake. The staff has been accommodating, they have really tried to adjust to our parents' needs and preferences, and the grounds are gorgeous. Sometimes, in choosing the right elder care facility, I've learned the hard way (with two other relatives!) that looks can be deceiving. I'm pleased to say that The Cottages of Fox Lake functions as nicely as it looks. There will always be little things in any living environment, but inasmuch as we all want our loved ones to be somewhere safe and clean, with pleasant staff, and ample opportunities to live their best life in their later years, this is a terrific choice.

This facility is a good choice for your loved one as it is not huge and more like a family environment. It's cute and it's clean and the people that work there are very familiar with each and every resident and are very caring and friendly. Sitting outside on the front porch is also a beautiful view of trees and you can hear birds singing and I would recommend it to anyone.

Moving my mother out of her home was a hard decision, but having her at the Cottages has been a blessing. The caregivers have been kind and helpful and everyone has been responsive to my requests or comments. My mother started in assisted living and made fast relationships with other residents and her caregivers making the transition so much easier. Now in memory care, I know she is well cared for and the caregivers, director, and nurses are responsive and understanding of her needs and different needs of all the residents. I visit with my mother regularly and at various times and am always encouraged to see her smiling, talking with others, or engaged in an activity. She even enjoys the meals and snacks😊 A heartfelt thank you to everyone there for their care and commitment.
