Our experience with this senior living facility was deeply disappointing. The biggest issue by far was the administration — particularly the Executive Director, Matt Werner. He was extremely difficult to get in touch with, unresponsive to concerns, and unwilling to make even basic accommodations. Any time we raised issues, it felt like we were being dismissed or treated as an inconvenience. Matt Werner was consistently unprofessional and gave us the clear impression that the facility’s top priority was profit — not people. Rather than showing empathy or a desire to support residents and families, his attitude made us feel like we were just a number on a balance sheet. To make matters worse, the facility is chronically short-staffed. While some of the frontline caregivers tried their best, they were clearly overworked and spread too thin to provide consistent or adequate care. This left residents waiting far too long for help or attention. This is not the kind of place you want your loved one to be if you’re looking for respect, responsiveness, and genuine care. I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere.

After touring several facilities we are so glad we selected The Chelsea in Washington Twp. We appreciated that Matt knew all the residents by name as well as their interests - that gave us a feeling of caring. Once we moved my brother in, he quickly warmed up to Jennifer in activities, who is such an enthusiastic person. She & her staff are a significant reason for his easy transition. When there was an issue with my brothers cell phone, it was so pleasant to receive a call from Mary stating that everything was fine but he asked that she let me know about the phone issue so I would not be worried if I could not get him. Right then & there it was confirmation yet again that the move to assisted living was right, and more so THIS was the right place! I can name so many other staff members, as my brother is happy to share his interactions, from T & the ladies in housekeeping to Angie & the dining room staff to the various aides & volunteers. Most importantly, while the facility is very nice and well maintained, the care exhibited by ALL the staff is by far the most beautiful part of The Chelsea in Wash Twp.

We went on a guided tour for memory care and assisted living. We found the facility very simple to navigate, extremely clean, rooms were very adequate in size, safe environment. I cannot say enough good compliments about all the people that we met. The kindness. Caring, knowledge. This facility has everything to ensure that any loved who was in their care would be taken care of physically and emotionally. The staff was attentive to all their patients. I was impressed that all questions and concerns were addressed by Matthew. He took as much time needed to ensure that he had addressed all my questions and I learned so much more that I was even aware of. It is extremely difficult to let go of a loved one when you are not able to care for them anymore. I left feeling comfortable that he would be very well taken care of. They encourage family and friends to visit which is comforting to know that we can be part of his life, even if he is not physically in our home. Thanks to all .

I have been working with the team at this Chelsea senior living from before their doors even opened. They are genuine, compassionate people that truly care about the residents of the Chelsea. They have created an excellent sense of community here that goes beyond just caring for older adults’ health- they’re also enriching the lives of their residents. I am always happy to stop in for a visit, the staff is welcoming and always positive.
