Relative in memory care. Pretty bad. Rooms are not cleaned well and smell strongly of urine. This is not safe or hygienic. And leads to UTIs. Clothes smell like urine because soiled clothes kept in closets. Relative constantly being put in soiled bed even though there are ample supplies of chucks. These are either not used or are left in bed soiled. It’s disgusting and dangerous! Management made aware but don’t do anything. Make excuses and try to blame resident. Or lie they will fix and then do nothing. Ridiculous.Management have zero transparency zero compassion, zero accountability and integrity. Also find resident in soiled pull up everyday I visit. Some aides including management just ignore repeated requests by relative to go to bathroom. Staff turnover atrocious. Good staff booted out. A couple or 3 aides are great, I hope they last. Also, beware of levels of care. There is zero transparency. And no changes regardless of resident improvement. Noticed how residents constantly forced to sit. Some need to stretch and some need to walk but they are not permitted and are physically restrained. Yes, I understand there are safety issues but not all residents are high risk for falling. And there needs to be some dignity. Lastly, residents have nothing to do. They are in one room in front of tv with some activities. I often hear residents say they want to do something. But nothing available but the group activities. We finally moved to another facility. Management is useless, misled us, and not transparent at all. There is zero communication and they jack up costs all the time. Follow other residents and Go somewhere else. I will say aides are typically great and caring but don’t last long. Unfortunately they don’t run the facility. Keep in mind most of positive reviews were for Atria and not Chelsea… They said will follow up privately. Never happened. Never attempted. I took relative to another community that has been a complete shift and happy with it as is relative.

Chelsea of New City has both assisted living and memory-care sections. It is a lovely new place with numerous quiet sitting areas for conversation, pleasant staff and administrators, nice selections of food for meals in a restaurant-like dining room with helpful wait-staff. The apartments have large kitchenettes with standard-size refrigerators and sinks. The bathrooms are large and clean, with plenty of storage area, the large windowed bedrooms have walk-in closets. The elevators to the second and third floors are swift and quiet. With a doctor prescription, OT and PT are provided by professionals from a contracted agency. The OT/PT room has a variety of exercise equipment for use by the residents. Various events are offered throughout the day, with a movie in the comfortable “theater” each evening. The residents may keep pets in their apartments. There are several levels of care available, depending of the functioning level of the residents, but all residents have the clothes laundered and their apartments cleaned regularly. I’m very impressed with this senior living facility.
