Sunrise of Rockville

If I could give this place zero stars, I would. They were lightning-fast when it came to taking payment, but when my grandmother needed help getting through the front door, I was left struggling alone until someone reluctantly stepped in. Before we could even settle her belongings, the director, Clinton, was hovering over me about a check. Absolutely disgraceful. This facility pretends to care, but the truth is ugly. If you expect compassion, communication, or basic dignity for your loved one, you will not find it here. Updates? Forget it. Their communication is a nightmare. The nursing staff was praised for experience, but what I saw was mediocrity at best. Once I realized what kind of place this was, I canceled our contract the same day and pulled my grandmother out before they could take another penny. On the way out, not a single person offered help—I had to struggle for several minutes to get her into the car myself. Do NOT bring your family here. This is not a place for comfort care; it’s a place where forgotten people go to die while the staff focuses on paychecks. I wouldn’t wish this experience on anyone. Additionally, the hospice nurse also expressed concerns by the lack of care and wait times while CANCER patients suffer. Pathetic. To the organization trying to save face and replying to this, don’t bother. Not a single word you can say will justify your lack of ethics, integrity, or moral compass. I hope your company goes belly up because what a depressing horrible company you run. For the record, there is a $5k fee non refundable and your monthly bill will likely exceed $10k a month. My bill was $14k for the first month including the nonsense fees. I have no problem airing out the dirty laundry and highway robbery practices. Can you imagine paying this much a month for this level of care and service? Seek another company and really look at the reviews with one star because they are not incentivized reviews. Update: Of course they replied with the same BS automated response. The only help Sunrise can provide is to close its doors. I hope an external investigation is done on this horrific establishment. Long story short: STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!!!!

My father lived here for 14 (yikes) years and enjoyed his time in Rockville. He and my mother moved down from Maine in 2010, and he was very happy to be in a facility with lots of people, helpful caregivers, and better food than he would have received at my house. Also, the activities were more tailored to his interests. For a while, he was part of a Sunrise choir, which was fun for him. Eventually, he began to slow down, and the nursing staff, especially Jamah, and the caregivers (too many to name) were very helpful to him. I remember how, during COVID, Jamah came in to make sure that my father ate and drank during our Zoom session. Recently, I heard that Clinton is still at this Sunrise. I'm glad because he is a true problem-solver, especially when my father had some issues.

My wife has been in Assisted Living in Sunrise Rockville for almost two years. Having held executive positions in health care administration, including for seniors, for more than four decades, I am thrilled to publicly recognize this outstanding community. Thanks to the dynamic leadership of its Director, Clinton Thomas, and the extraordinarily caring and compassionate staff in an excellent facility, my wife’s quality of life and our family’s peace of mind have improved significantly as a result of their untiring efforts. We are so deeply grateful!

My mom has been at Sunrise of Rockville for about 7 months now. Every time I visit, I am impressed with how all of the staff members do whatever needs to be done to help my mom and the other residents in the reminiscence neighborhood. The staff are always welcoming to me and my family. They treat the residents, including my mother, with kind and caring attitudes, always being gentle and helpful. They respect the rights of the residents, and give them as much autonomy as possible. I am especially grateful when I see that my mom is feeling out of sorts and the staff can quickly calm and comfort her. Nobody tells me "that's not my job" when I ask for help with anything, with the exception of times when I am referred to the nursing staff for medication management (but that's because it's required).
