Sunrise of New Dorp

The place itself is lovely. They pay a lot of attention to the decor and general living environment. It is beautiful. There are many wonderful people working there, helpful and professional. On the less ideal side, the turnover rate for aides is far too high. They just come and go. And they need more. Some are great and some are not at all. If you have a family member who needs a bit more attention and care, you will not be satisfied. If your family member is fine to do most things on their own, great, but if they need help, they will have to wait a while. My parents biggest complaint is the food. It is adequate but not great by any means. For the amount of money they charge, they should spend much more on the quality of the food. When my mother was in the hospital recently for a few days, she was much happier with the quality of the food there than at Sunrise. They really need to work on the food. They also need more servers in the dining room so that residents don’t have to wait so long to be served. It often takes over an hour or more for their food to come. The servers are wonderful and kind but there just aren’t enough of them. It’s a good place but they need to pay more attention to the complaints of the residents and make a few changes to get more stars from me.

Sunrise of New Dorp is a magnificent community where they truly care about seniors and engage with the community. The events are amazing! Kristina and April are so helpful and always go the extra mile.

The care and compassion at Sunrise of New Dorp is amazing. The activity’s program led by Hia and her staff is fantastic the program includes many live music programs, art of all kinds, games, trivia to name a few. Director Melon is extremely approachable and helpful. All the staff are kind too many to name individually. PT and nursing staff knowledgeable and compassionate.

From the moment I started looking at Sunrise - New Dorp Assisted Living, I knew this would be a great place for mom. April has been nothing short of amazing in making my mom's transition easier than I could imagine. My mom was warmly greeted by various staff members on the 1st day, ensuring her that she would be well taken care of. Everyone at Sunrise (staff and residents) have been great ! Mom is so happy to be there and is excited about all of the activities that she can participate in. Great place, great people !!! Some of the wonderful people that helped my mom and our family so much over the years are: AprilLynne , Hanah, Eileen, Victoria, Joe, Melon, Shannon and Jeremiah. Thanks again for all you have done for mom and the family.
