I strongly recommend moving your loved ones to this facility. We are so happy with the care and environment at Sunrise of Grosse Pointe Woods. My mom is 93, and we were initially concerned that relocating her at this age might increase her confusion. But the opposite has happened — she’s truly thriving. She’s more alert, engaged, and participates in more activities tailored to individuals with dementia. The residents and staff are incredibly welcoming, and the staff, in particular, are caring, loving, and attentive. It’s a wonderful place that brings peace of mind to families.

When my mom’s health declined quickly and we were no longer able to care for her at home, we had to find another option—fast. A close family friend recommended Sunrise Assisted Living after her own husband had been there for three years, and she couldn’t have spoken more highly of the experience. From the moment we arrived, we saw exactly what she had described. The culture is genuinely caring and family-oriented. Staff members support one another, step in without hesitation, and treat residents with real warmth and respect. It’s clear they are very intentional—almost picky—in who they hire, and it shows. Many of the caregivers have been there for 10+ years, which speaks volumes about the environment and leadership. The team was incredibly supportive during my mom’s transition, guiding us through some very difficult moments with compassion and patience. When my mom ultimately passed away, the in-house hospice team was exceptional. They made the process as peaceful and gentle as possible for both my mom and our family. I am deeply impressed with Sunrise. I run a healthcare business myself, and this is exactly the kind of culture I strive to create—one where everyone pitches in, cares deeply, and treats people like family. Add in engaging activities and good food, and it truly feels like a place where residents are valued and cared for as whole people. My Dad said, he wouldn't mind being at Sunrise if the need arised for him. I am grateful for the care my mom received and would wholeheartedly recommend Sunrise to any family facing a similar situation.

The staff, directors, nurses, caregivers are kind, compassionate people. The Sunrise system is very expensive, but mom received good care. She thought she lived at a hotel! Mom was there several years so they got to know her well. great choice for our family.

We recently moved my mother from another state to Sunrise Grosse Pointe to be closer to family. My family and I have been impressed with the community. The staff and other residents have been so welcoming. The nurses, aides and other staff who work there seem to truly enjoy their work with the residents. She is encouraged to participate in activities and that has helped her settle into the community. As a family member, I appreciate that both administrative and medical staff are so approachable and helpful. I am pleased there was an available apartment when we needed one. I would highly recommend Sunrise Grosse Pointe.
