StoryPoint Grand Rapids East

When we started looking for a place for my parents, Story Point East was top on my list. Not only due to the fact they were close to my parents current home, but for many other reasons. The minute we walked in to the facility we were greeted by residents AND every staff that came in our path. The place is clean and you can tell the residents are very happy. Kristin was beyond AMAZING giving us a tour. I love that she made us feel welcome (and the cookies were good too lol). She was thoroughly, friendly, and even dealt with my dad's humor matching it at times (bonus points). After my dad passed, we informed Kristin and she invited my mom, my daughter and I to lunch for another tour. Out of every place we visited, Story Point East offered the most choices for food options at meals. When the chef heard we were coming they even made my mom's favorite dessert. Everything tasted so good, unlike other places I've attended to visit other family members. The outside atmosphere is beautiful and my family especially loved the enclosed area so we could bring our dog to visit. Having a chapel is a perk too. There are also a lot of activities on campus and trips off campus. I highly recommend S.P East. My mom is putting down her deposit and will be moving in in the future.

I am extremely concerned about the level of care provided at this facility. My family paid thousands of dollars for services that were simply not being provided. Laundry services — which residents are charged significant fees for — were often not completed if clothing was left outside of a basket. Instead of helping residents who clearly need assistance, staff would leave soiled clothing and bedding untouched for extended periods of time. During visits, we discovered socks, clothing, and even carpeting contaminated with feces that had reportedly been left unaddressed for weeks. No one from the facility notified our family about the unsanitary living conditions or the decline in hygiene. Residents appeared to be showered extremely infrequently, sometimes reportedly only once per month if that. Situations like this raise serious concerns about neglect, sanitation, and resident dignity. The carpet is currently covered in poop and piss leading through the room and no staff has come to clean. Families trust facilities like this to provide safe and humane care. Based on what we personally witnessed, that trust was not upheld. We strongly believe oversight agencies, including the VA and state regulators, should urgently investigate these conditions

I recently toured this facility for my grandmother, and I was incredibly impressed with the experience. Kristin did a fantastic job - she was not only knowledgeable and thorough, but also exceptionally kind and caring throughout the entire process. Her compassion and attention to detail made what could have been a difficult decision feel much more comfortable and reassuring. It's clear she genuinely cares about the residents and their families. Thank you for going above and beyond — your warmth made all the difference!

Everyone at the 32nd St. facility is incredibly helpful and kind. They go above and beyond to make sure their residents are cared for and feel at home! They even went as far as making sure that our friends dog felt comfortable and wanted. After taking a good look at Story Point we have convinced other family members to move there and are on the waiting list right now. You wont find a better, friendlier, more resident centric facility in GR. And it comes with a sweetheart named Betty that can brighten anyones day!
