My mom and I had a wonderful tour of the facility. Bev was very helpful answering all of our questions and pointing out many details we would have thought about later. My mom was very negative because she doesn’t want to move but Bev handled her perfectly. The wonderful part of this community is all the different levels of care available when it is needed. There were many active seniors that greeted us when we arrived as they were headed out.

While deciding where I’d like my mother to live since her stroke I found myself overwhelmed with all there is to this process. The minute I walked in to Solstice Senior Living in Bangor, I knew, if I could get my mom to come to Maine- THIS was going to be her home! I was immediately greeted by a staff member who asked what they could do for me. She listened, asked if I had a few moments and went to get the brochure I had asked for and to my surprise, the Director, Matthew, came out to greet me with the brochure in hand. I distinctly remember wanting to get the brochure and take it home as I did with all the others- 7 to be exact! I was not looking forward to deciphering yet ANOTHER brochure. As he handed me the brochure he said: I know this can be quite overwhelming and it’s not a decision you want to rush, so please feel free to call me with any questions you might have. If you feel up to it and are not in a rush, I would be happy to show you a few units so you have a good visual of the space and please feel free to take some pictures to show your mom! Wow!! Matthew was kind, very empathetic to my situation and respectful of my time. I felt like a small weight had been lifted off of my shoulders because he was the first person to treat my situation as his own, and not blowing me off and shuffling me out the door with the brochure. So, I had him show me a few rooms and as we made our way through the facility he was asking what my mom was thinking she’d like and what her interests were. He was also the first one to NOT mention the move-in specials 5 times like all the other places I had visited and requested brochures from. Matthew simply mentioned that they run specials at different times of the year, so if and when my family had a date in mind, he would be happy to go over any and all of the financial information with me so that we were able to take advantage of any specials during that time frame. I am still working on moving my mother out here when she is well enough to travel, and my mom and I have decided that Solstice will be perfect for her.....and it’s super close to me so that’s a huge bonus! To Matthew and your staff, Thank You so much for making this process bearable and now, somewhat exciting! Sincerely, Sarah

It used to be wonderful and clean. Now my dad's carpet is disgusting. Looks like he's had a few accidents that never got cleaned up. The food is not good at all. Sometimes they forget to serve a few people in their rooms. The servers are also the housekeepers. They are cheap. The office staff are kind and thoughtful though
