Solista Salem

Solista Salem provides everything we were looking for in a retirement community. Same size apartment with garage. Found it! Much nicer than apartment at Hidden Lakes Salem. These are the "upgrades/benefits" in our new apartment on The Ridge: 2 bedrooms, master with patio door, 2 bathrooms, 1 with tub, stackable washer and dryer, 1 with step in shower sliding glass doors, 2 large clothes closets, 2nd bedroom is large with large closet, nice size linen closet, 2 large coat closets, full size kitchen with gas range, dishwasher, full size refrigerator with freezer, stainless steel double sink, lots of cupboards, garbage disposal, large dining room and living room with gas fireplace. Great windows and light fixtures in all rooms. Attached garage large enough for vehicle and golf cart plus side storage. Weekly housekeeping with the same housekeeper, does a great job, friendly and so much fun to visit with. Good food 3 meals a day, 7 days a week. Meals to go if requested or are incapacitated. Well stocked snack bar in lobby area. Lots of activities: Sunday church in chapel, Tuesdays Power of Prayer in chapel, Saturday evening movie in chapel. Activity room: beanbag baseball, prize bingo, watercolor class, exercise class, Arobics, a puzzle table. A mini fridge and sink. A wonderful library with a resident volunteer librarian who does a great job keeping track of the books and keeping them shelved by genre/author. A game room: Hand and foot, penucle, Mexican train dominoes, Yatzee. Beauty salon, masseuse. 2 computers for resident's use. Now for the staff. From the top down, General Manager to EVERY employee, salaried or part time, they are well trained and understand their job responsibilities. Everyone is treated with respect and a smile. After touring Solista Salem and getting such excellent help from Marlyn and her boss, I am moving in! What a terrific place. I have not even moved in yet, and I already like it. The staff work hard to build a sense of "community." The grounds are beautiful, the staff is great, and there is a feeling of camaraderie, closeness, and caring here. There is activity and life here. I toured another facility, (Hidden Lakes), and even though they offer the same amenities and services, and also have magnificent, gorgeous grounds, the facility honestly felt like a prison to me. It felt like a place where people go to die, frankly. Please don't go there! But Solista Salem is an active community (with spacious apartments, not crackerbox cells like Hidden Lakes has), for active people who can be amongst friends. You can become as involved as you wish to be, and the staff here care about their people. They show REAL CONCERN, not fake concern like I observed at Hidden Lakes. I was particularly impressed with Marlyn. She is wonderful, and a GIGANTIC ASSET to this facility, and to the Cogir Corporation who own and manage it. She has tremendous people and business skills and really helped me make informed decisions and RELAX. Like many seniors, I am interested in feeling less isolated, and want to downsize from a large home to a more manageable living space. And, like many others, I am interested in the freedom of renting and not being responsible at this time of owning and maintaining a home. Marlyn gave me exceptional help in regards to my finances, answered the multitude of questions I had, and was very kind, caring and understanding. I also noticed her exhibiting this same concern for other residents there, and it was REAL, not PHONY. I highly recommend Solista Salem to you, and truly believe that Marlyn is a tremendous asset to them. Please contact her there. I can’t say enough good things about this independent living community! The staff consistently go above and beyond to make every resident feel valued and cared for. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with genuine warmth and professionalism. The customer service is truly exceptional any request, big or small, is handled quickly and without an attitude. They take the time to get to know each resident personally, which creates a welcoming, family-like atmosphere. It’s clear that exceeding expectations is their standard, not the exception. I highly recommend this community to anyone looking for a place that combines comfort, independence, and outstanding service.

I had a tour there, everyone was very courteous & friendly, and the facility/Buildings/grounds were clean. Reasonable prices, but I wasn't really ready to move there until January. Hopefully I get another chance in December or January. George F.
