Dior and Christi are ausome activity directors! I love entertaining there at Silverado . The residents are very anxious to hear the music and the directors and all the staff engage throughout the event with the residents. . Dior has so many cool ideas when planning an event. I can't wait to see what he has in store each month when I arrive .He surprises me with his imagination and creativeness! You go Dior!! Just a couple of pics of Diors genius creativity!

My wife has been a resident of Silverado Hermann Park for nearly two years. She is in hospice care, a victim of advanced dementia. In many ways she has improved - more relaxed, smiles more than her last days at home, more responsive, happier - since joining the community I believe this is largely due to the professionalism, kindness and personal care - loving care - of her nurses and caregivers. The facility is not fancy but it is safe, clean and welcoming. Family and friends are welcome. There are no set visiting hours, and several resident dogs wander around the halls (not dining rooms) and secure courtyard, often cuddled by residents. I would recommend anyone looking for a possible future home for their loved ones to visit Silverado Hermann Park and see for yourself.

The people caring for mom day to day are amazing. Everyone knows her by name and they know what she enjoys. They are so purposeful in their engagement of my mom…always encouraging, positive but never pushy. They provide therapeutic opportunities for her to have fun but even more, they create opportunities for her to contribute and serve a purpose, something that is really important. I simply cannot say enough good things about the experience. I am so incredibly grateful we found a place worthy of our precious mom for this season of her life. Thank you.

Parkinson’s is a horribly cruel disease. But I had no idea that a series of falls could trigger such rapid decline, both mentally and physically. In June, my ex-husband was driving himself from his assisted living center in Bellaire to weekly Parkinson’s boxing classes across town. By the end of August, he was relegated to a wheelchair and was in immediate need of 24-hour memory care after two hospitalizations and two unsuccessful stints in rehab. This new reality was overwhelming, and I am thankful for an informed referral to Silverado at Hermann Park. I knew this place was different when I walked in and was greeted by Astro, a rescue Labradoodle, one of three community dogs. It immediately felt like home – warm and welcoming and not a “final destination.” Nothing institutional about it. And with an onsite social worker, therapists and doctors, engaging community spaces, elegant dining rooms that overlook the courtyard, endless activities, events, celebrations and even fresh baked cookies in the lobby every afternoon, Silverado is the best kind of home you can give someone who needs constant quality care. Leaving a loved one in a memory care facility is gut wrenching and beyond heartbreaking. But when both the resident AND the family receive unwavering compassion and support, well this is the kind of place that you need to be a part of when dealing with the devastating challenges of memory care. I can’t stress enough what a supportive environment this is. The staff at Silverado are true earth angels. To a person, they seem to have a calling to do this difficult work. The nurses, CNAs, wellness and engagement staff are kind, caring and unbelievably patient while providing daily physical care and activities to keep their residents’ minds and bodies as active as possible. The food is good, healthy and nutritious. Rooms and common spaces are always clean. Residents are treated with dignity and respect. Transparency and open communications also make building relationships with both caregivers and administrators seamless. Knowing that my ex is safe, cared for and treated with dignity gives me a huge sense of relief and untold peace of mind. I don’t worry about the next fall, which is inevitable with Parkinson’s. I no longer stress about how to deal with his dementia and failing body because I know he’s in the very best of hands. Now, I can just visit and spend quality time. With all of the disconcerting decisions that had to be made so abruptly for this next phase of his care, choosing Silverado has been the best. And when the time comes for hospice care, he can stay in his room without the added concern of navigating more change. I can’t recommend this memory care “home” and all of its earth angels enough. This is hard, often thankless work and they do it with a smile and commitment that is real and heartfelt. I couldn’t do it. I will be forever grateful that they can.
