I recently had the privilege to visit this lovely retirement home and was impressed with what it offers. Firstly, stepping into this building, you don’t feel like you are in a retirement home. It smells and feel more like a hotel. The services that were provided were specially designed and catered towards each individual where they were treated as VIPs of a hotel. They don’t just sell you a place to live. It’s a lifestyle in a safe and luxurious environment. It is modern, with high ceiling and extremely clean. There’s a cinema, pool. Salon, gym, restaurant and great views.

Beware!!! Villages of South Hampton Buffalo Speedway location used pressure tactics on my 96 year old mother to sign a complicated 92 page lease while I was out of town. I have been handling her finances for 25 years. After suffering the impact of tropical storm Beryl, 7 days without power AND water at her current Independent Living facility, it was easy to entice her with talk about generators keeping the air conditioning, lights and water on, however, the way it was done was undermining and decieptful. My brother, wanting to help, took our mother there to check it out. The Villages of South Hampton told her that they didn’t have a two bedroom apt for her at that moment but that if she gave them about $3,000 for a memory care room (that she didn’t need or want) this would be what she needed to do to “jump” to the front of the waiting list. This created a dramatic sense of urgency for her to commit. That being said, how would that make the other people on the waiting list feel if they knew a $3,000 rental of a small room for a few weeks pushed their wait back further? Makes me wonder if there even was at waiting list? The Villages of South Hampton itself is adequate however the dining is average at best. My brother asked me to come try the food and our waitress appeared with about 10 safety-pins holding her jeans together! Not the business casual anyone would find appropriate. My mother, who has not made any financial decisions for 30+ years was presented with a 92 page lease to sign and was pressured into an $11,660 payment towards the memory care room and a two bedroom apt that was coming available in a couple of weeks. I called my mother from out of town and could tell immediately that she was unsettled by the matter. When I returned, I went to The Villages of South Hampton with my brother to take a look and while I was there I told him that our mother felt pressure to commit but didn’t want to live there. I visited the sales rep who told me that the fees where non-refundable and I asked for a manager. Manager came in after a 25 minute wait she informed me that the $11,660 is non-refundable and that my mother would need to give 60 days notice to break the lease. That looks like close $20,000 for absolutely nothing because my mother will never live there. I asked to speak to upper management but weeks later still haven’t received a callback. I strongly recommend that you look elsewhere if you are looking for an Independent Living facility for yourself or your loved one.

I had a disappointing experience with the food service manager, Victor. When I called the facility to inquire about the menu options for a resident, I overheard him saying, 'Who’s calling? I don’t want to talk.' When he finally spoke with me, his tone and attitude lacked the professionalism I expected. This interaction left me concerned about the overall quality of service at the facility. If management is this unprofessional, it raises questions about the standard of care provided.

We love living at The Village of Southampton. The people who work here are fantastic and very helpful. The food is outstanding! The building is wonderfully planned and the apartments are lovely. And, it’s close to Rice Village. We also have delightful people living here with us! Mike and Joyce Bradshaw. This is a sunrise that we photographed from our building!
