Senior Star Dublin Retirement Village

My mom moved into Senior Star Memory Support two years ago. Our journey to get to that day was long and difficult. We toured three memory support facilities and Senior Stars stood out in so many ways. I could tell by the large open and inviting spaces that this was truly special in how they approach care. Stepping into the lobby, a beautiful space with comfy couches, chairs, fireplace, grand piano - and best of all, a front desk staffed with the friendliest people. A quick look to the right, and there is the Senior Star Cafe, a trendy space with coffee/tea/hot chocolate, fancy water (always something special to add fresh flavor), popcorn machine, treats, fresh fruit, sandwiches and an array of seating options that truly invite you to gather, sit, and chat. There are daily puzzles to try, newspapers, books, and a large screen TV that always is streaming something interesting to watch or learn. Further to the right is a beautiful dining room and and a private dining room that any resident or family can reserve. While Mom is in Memory Support, she and I come to the front to sit and enjoy these amenities. We love to sit and chat with the Assisted Living residents and their families. Family is also welcome to dine in the dining room for any meal. We love to do this and do it often! Mom's apartment in Memory Support is truly her own space. We brought in a few of her things to make her happy. Her window looks out toward the park and has a pine tree with birds and squirrels. We put up a bird feeder and struggle to keep it full with all the critters that visit. The nursing staff is awesome. They provide professional care at all times. We know them and they know us. I ask questions all the time and they always take time to be with us. There are two dining rooms and they are designed so that all the residents, regardless of where they are in their journey, come to the dining room and are accommodated with exactly what they need. This is special and unique. Ask Mom, she will tell you "Any time I don't have to cook, I'm happy." She loves the meals and getting together with her friends. Ask Mom about the activities, she will tell you she doesn't have time to be bored. Zoomba, trivia, bingo, baking club, happy hour (yep, they have real happy hours) movie nights, lectures, travel talks, Jeopardy watch parties, birthday parties, and so many holiday themed parties. So much going on all the time. Mom now feels comfortable going on outings in the shuttle to fun events, this is something she truly loves. Someone is always playing on one of the many pianos, or picking tunes on the juke box to play as they shop and play at the Country Store. The hallways are wide and invite roaming for residents that are feeling restless. Everywhere are sensation stations to stop and explore. Lots of jewelry, hats, cookware, clothes, blankets, trinkets, to pick up and explore. My favorites are the baby changing station, the wedding dress, and the tool station complete with hardhats. So many things to keep busy. Beautiful patios, a secure garden space in the memory area has a classic car, many seated areas, raised gardens (gardening club!). Beyond the building I take Mom for walks in the park - just right there! This is truly an ideal setting. My last message to you - yes, its difficult, no it's not home, but, ask Mom - "If I can't be in my house, I'd rather live here." She has so much more enrichment now than she ever would living at home (not an option) or with me (always an option, but she politely declines, loves her apartment!) And every Friday there is a Caregiver Support Group meeting. This is run by the head nurse and it is the opportunity to bring up ALL things weighing on your mind in a very safe space to share. Incredibly beautiful group of family that care for each other.

I would highly recommend Dublin Retirement Village in any of the areas of care. My grandmother lived in independent living many years ago, and I know she was pleased with the staff, personal rooms, amenities, activities, etc, and so was our family. Because of this, when it became time to find a Memory Care space for my mom, Dublin Retirement Village was on our list of places to look into. Is it easy to get to this point? Not at all. Did I drag my feet? Yes. But ... when it came to what was BEST for my mom (and my dad), DRV Memory Care was hands down the best "home away from home." The accommodations were lovely and provide just what my mom needed. The staff was professional, friendly, and they ALL treated my mom like family. It is impossible to find a place that is exactly like home, but it put my mind at ease when I saw how my mom was cared for and spoken to. Sadly, my mom passed away from Alzheimer's disease in June 2025, and when that happened, the staff was caring and warm to me and my family. My dad continues to visit the staff and residents there, so I know that even 6+ months later, the Memory Care space continues to be a wonderful place for those that need it. I am really grateful for those that run, staff, work at, and support DRV Memory Care. ❤️

Dublin Village has been a great place for my parents to live. The memory care staff are very attentive and communicative. The independent living community is active and friendly. Highly recommend!

Caregivers Here are incredibly caring and supportive of the residents as well as their family members. I have personal experience here as my husband is a resident. They are always looking for ways for the residents to be engaged and active.
