After two years of caring intensively for my sister and seeing her continued health decline, we knew it was time to look for a new home where she would receive a structured and supportive environment. My sister was agreeable to this option and that she needed more than we could continue offering. I knew that loved ones often suffer exhaustion and health concerns of their own while caring for a family member. We had even hired two aides to provide care and allow us respite, but it was not enough. My sister had lived in the same home all her life, so this was not an easy decision, but becoming a desperate necessity for us all. Upon visiting five other assisted living facilities in the Rochester area, my son and I were equally impressed and comfortable with everything we saw in Sage Harbor at Baywinde. We felt warmth, friendliness and inclusion as we walked around, meeting some staff and other residents. Everyone we met seemed comfortable and content to be here. The environment inside and out was homey and aesthetically pleasing. We were also really pleased with other levels of care available right in the same campus, in case my sister's health needs increased. Upon viewing one of the rooms available to my sister, my son and I were immediately pleased with the pleasant space, privacy and her own bathroom! In other places, my sister would have had to share a communal bathroom and shower, which we did not find amenable for her. At the end of our lovely tour, my son and I agreed that this just felt RIGHT. Not an easy feat, as we had different viewpoints on so many other things! After discussing everything on the ride home, we decided to accept this opportunity and have NOT regretted our decision! My sister has now resided here for ten months and is content and comfortable. It was initially a difficult change for her, but she now has several friends and communicates her needs with staff independently. With all new doctors and revisement of her medicines, her health is more stable. She has Baywinde transportation to activities and some of her appointments, so she has some independence from our support. Even though we are still frequently present and supportive in her life, we no longer feel fearful for her health and safety. My sister happily participates in activities each day, including her quilting passion. Her nutrition is healthy now and she takes care in her grooming and appearance. This is what Sage Harbor at Baywinde has provided: a new healthy, happy, social and secure environment for my sister and peace for us all. Thank you Baywinde!

Sage Harbor is a beautifully designed underestimated community that has a lot to offer your loved ones. It has caring, compassionate management and staff who provide the kind of care that you've come to expect in senior care. When issues arise, the team takes careful consideration to listen and create change, setting itself apart from other senior living communities.

Please, please do not send your loved one to the Memory Care Unit at Baywinde Sage Harbor. We pulled my father after less than a month. His dementia actually got worse. The memory care patients are all grouped into a TV room and made to watch 20-30 year old movies and TV shows. There is an activity schedule, but that's just smoke and mirrors. There aren't any activities! Most of the staff ignores the patients. The staff are usually just sitting together in groups talking to each other while the patients are being ignored. One exception "Chandra" she tried her best and we truly appreciated her. The sales reps for the home are very good. They promise you everything and you think..."what a wonderful place." It's not true. The billing manager was also EXTREMELY rude with every interaction. And he initially messed up our payment and blamed it on us. We had the paperwork to prove otherwise. There was never an apology or even a second thought. We actually paid extra to get my father out of there early. I feel for the patients still at the facility. My father is now in a better location where the staff actually cares for my father.
