Prestige High Desert has been an incredible support for our family. From the very beginning, the team made us feel welcomed, informed, and truly cared for. The staff is compassionate, patient, and genuinely invested in each resident’s well-being. They take the time to know each individual and treat them with dignity and respect. The community is clean, warm, and engaging, and it gives us peace of mind knowing our loved one is safe, supported, and surrounded by people who truly care. We are so grateful for the kindness, professionalism, and dedication of the entire Prestige High Desert team. Highly recommend to any family seeking quality senior living in the High Desert.

I’m posting this as a warning to Prestige Senior Living, the parent company of Brookside, based on a troubling experience with Brookside that Prestige has failed to address. In September 2025, my family moved my mother into Brookside under Hospice care. While a small number of staff clearly cared about residents, the overall experience was unsafe and poorly managed. Key issues included inconsistent decisions about essential equipment (bed rails) and mixed messages about her care needs. Despite medical notes showing she was incontinent, a nurse suggested she could “do more for herself,” and Brookside repeatedly changed their stance on basic accommodations. Medication was not always administered as prescribed, personal devices were misused, and there were days she was left without bed rails even after we requested she remain in a recliner to prevent panic. We were also repeatedly asked to obtain and administer medications rather than relying on Hospice staff. The financial side was another major problem: refunds for deposits and prorated charges took nearly two months, with more than 15 emails and calls, and no timely resolution. I reached out to Brookside’s management and, more recently, to Prestige leadership, but those emails went unanswered. I’m not asking for miracles—just accountable, compassionate, patient-centered care and reliable communication. Prestige Senior Living should publicly address these concerns, review policies at Brookside and related facilities, and ensure staff understand the standard of care families deserve. Until Prestige demonstrates real accountability, I would caution families to proceed with extreme diligence and to seek strong advocacy for their loved ones.

When my sister in law and I started looking for a place for our 96 year old Dad in November of 2022, Prestige High Desert was the first place we checked out. Because we were so impressed, it was the ONLY place we looked at and, surprising to us, we signed up immediately. What so impressed us initially was the large community spaces and the cleanliness. The dining room was lovely, the rooms were obviously refurbished after each resident moved on and everything looked well cared for. Dad has been there since January of 2023. We are so blessed that he has the mental capacity to participate in the many things Prestige has to offer: daily card/board games, visiting lecture series ("The Telescope Guy" is a huge draw right now), how to programs like building your own suncatchers or planting a garden box, Friday afternoon Happy Hours (often with live music). So much to offer to keep him engaged. Basically, however, these are extrenaeous things. The biggest gift Prestige has to offer my dad is the wonderful and caring staff. From the moment Dad moved in, he has universally been treated with dignity, respect and (yes) LOVE. Every single person who works there treats him like he is a beloved member of their family. Last December he had emergency gall bladder surgery and when he finally was able to return there, it literally took us 20 minutes to get from the front door to the elevator as offices, kitchen, etc emptied as employees surrounded him and welcomed him home. We were overwhelmed with their loving and caring attitude to our beloved father. Thank you Prestige. You make our life so much easier and our Dad's life so much happier. We are so indebted to you.

The Dining room service manager does not wash his hands to prepare food nor after entering the Kitchen from other parts of the facility. The cooks Mariah and Maryanne do not wash their hands to prepare food or when entering the kitchen from other parts of the facility. The servers eat on the service line and do not wash their hands before interacting with the residents food and then they serve the food to the residents. The dining room manager Justin leaves soup on the burner and causes it to burn while and at the same time left to go home in a snowstorm. The dining room manager and Mariah and Maryanne do not properly label food and used expired food to feed the residents and say they have to do that because the food is to expensive and sysco doesn't deliver food on time. The care givers and the Dining room service managers yell and bully to threaten hard working employees whom work in serv safe- The overall environment is poor and mismanaged and a serve safe violations due to the Dining service manager and the inappropriate work ethics of the managers and their long time employees lack of working in serv safe. I would never put my loved one in this facility due to the poor discernment of the managers and their lack of work ethics - They do not appreciate the hard working polite and professional personalities whom take health and safety seriously and implement it for the care of the residents.
