Located near Providence Park and Pilot Butte Park, Brookdale Bend offers Alzheimer’s and dementia care to seniors and their families from Bend and other surrounding towns in the Deschutes County region of central Oregon.
Our care is rooted in a person-centered approach. That means we help our residents find a sense of belonging and purpose while also helping them preserve who they are. For people living with dementia, small moments can have a big purpose. Our residents stay engaged with a gentle daily structure of planned activities to help them maintain their abilities and encourage the use of their current skills. Brain games, art classes and music programs are just a few of the ways our residents enjoy their days.
Our community is designed with dementia-friendly features to promote safety and security for our residents. Our programing creates a routine that offers a sense of accomplishment for those living with dementia. Working in small cluster groups, each resident is surrounded by others with the same cognitive abilities, giving them a feeling of fitting in. As my mother likes to tell people she meets in her day to day life at Brookdale, "I feel like a rich Biddy living in a fancy hotel." We are there often throughout the week and she consistently says how much she likes where she is living and thanks us for moving her there. I know that may not be the case for everyone's loved one, depending on the stage of dementia. After living with us for two and a half years, mom needed more care than we could provide. We toured and looked at memory care and senior foster care homes in Bend and chose Brookdale because of the small town, homelike atmosphere. All the staff and caregiver members contribute to a safe, caring, and engaging home for my mother as well as all of the Brookdale residents. Amei, David and Tammy have responded very quickly to questions or concerns I might have. Kaitlyn, Becca, Stewart, and all of the rest of the med tech's and caregivers are incredible. They have a hard job, yet they do it thoughtfully and joyfully. They are also very good at meeting moms needs and letting us know if there is something else she needs or if she has had a hard night, morning, or difficulties throughout the day. Something Brookdale has that stands out is their activities and engagement program, directed by Abbie. Abbie provides activities such as bingo, morning chair exercise class, along with many field trips and art activities, all geared for the residents who have different abilities and tastes. Lastly, and most importantly, Amei and her staff have created and maintain a community where the residents can still experience a familiar quality of life that includes caring for each other and feeling cared for!

Amei and her team at Brookdale went out of their way to assist with my brother Bill who was a unique case as he was only 58 when he went to Brookdale. Not only was he the youngest person there, he needed a lot of care after suffering 2 sets of strokes. They made him feel very welcome and were super attentive to his constantly, changing needs. The staff was kind, cheerful and attentive. Thank you Brookdale.

I am very happy that I chose Brookdale of Bend for my mother. I have been very impressed by the level of personal attention that she receives. The executive director, Amei, is just wonderful. She hires excellent, caring staff who clearly take pride in their work and really care for the residents-and the families. Amei is extremely friendly and approachable. Brookdale has weekly outings for the residents who are able to participate, including horse therapy, trips to a preschool, swimming, and more, and Amei sends me pictures of my mother after every activity. Brookdale also has daily activities, 7 days a week, including physical activity as the residents are capable, lots of crafts, and group mental games to keep the residents stimulated. I have seen the staff pay individual attention to my mother, including working with her on puzzles, playing cribbage with her, in ways that just never happened in her former assisted living. The food is plentiful and she has actually gained much needed weight. The dining area and activity area are always decorated beautifully. I really recommend Brookdale.

Brookdale has been a huge blessing for our family. Our mom, Susan, has been a resident at Brookdale since August 2025. This is after living both at Touchmark and Mt. Bachelor Memory Care. We finally feel like mom is „at home!“ And we think she feels the same way too! When I come to Bend to visit her I always see her engaged with other residents and the staff at Brookdale! There is always something to do whether it be bingo, Jeopardy, cooking, a fabulous theme party or an adventure out to Healing Reins! Before Brookdale, mom knew there was life beyond the locked door. Unfortunately, she was able to get out of her old memory care unit a few times…..thankfully she was always found safe. Since she has been at Brookdale that has never happened! When it comes time to say, „goodbye“ there is always someone or something there to engage her. Amei and the entire staff are truly angels on earth. Whatever they are doing, they are doing it right! There is something extra special at Brookdale…..and it shows! This time in life can be difficult for families…..we want our loved ones to be happy and safe. Sometimes that not easy to know if they lack the skills to communicate their feelings. But I KNOW mom is where she needs to be…..as well as the other residents who are fortunate to call Brookdale „home.“
