We used Pine Grove Crossing as a transitional place while we waited for a space to open up for my mother in law near us. It was a terrible experience. Her doctor wanted daily blood pressure readings and they did the reading at the same time that they were administering her medication so we couldn’t track how the changes in medication were working. Communication was also terrible. It would take a couple days to get a response from one of the nurses about her condition. The administration did not help us with that. There are posters all over with plans for redecorating and no help coordinating care. My MIL was miserable there.

I recently toured the facility to consider as a place for my mom living with dementia. I was skeptical before I set up the appointment but I thought I would go see for myself. I was a little closed minded walking in thinking that the previous reviews I had read were what I was going to experience. Much to my surprise, I was very impressed with the facility and the real life interactions I saw between the caregivers and the residents. Christina was the person that gave me my tour and she answered every question I had to my satisfaction and even addressed the previous poor reviews they received as a community. I’m still in my decision making phase but they may be my leading candidate so far.

I feel compelled to let any family, considering the facility for memory care, about the bad experience my family had. While some of the activity directors and orderlies do try to help and engage your loved one, the nursing staff is horrible. They are arrogant and do not care about your opinions regarding the care of your family member. If you have a Doctor who prescribes medication “as needed” that means the dementia patient has to request the medication or they will not give it to them. There is no dementia patient who can articulate a need for medicine! They have dementia!! If you go down to the nurses office to discuss they will be dismissive, smirk, and be condescending . I’m not making this up. There are two head nurses named Brad and neither one cares about your loved one or your opinion. I had to show up every day and ask what medicine was given and they still wouldn’t follow Doctors orders. Your loved one is nothing more than a number to them and they know if you leave they can easily find another patient. The salespeople and executive director will sell you on a bunch of BS. Meet with the nurses & Staff before you put your loved one in this facility. Knowing what I know now I would NEVER put a family member into this facility. I frankly don’t know how they aren’t sued constantly. There has to be better places than this.

I’m an RN who has a client that lives at Pine Grove Crossing. I have been there twice now and the place is very clean, modern, and the units are spacious. The staff have been great as well, and are very friendly/helpful. This place is worth checking out if you have a loved one that needs an assisted living or memory care facility!
