Our experience with this Senior Living Community was top notch! We recently had to put our loved one here and the caring and compassionate care was amazing. Everyone was very attentive, they took an interest in our loved one, called her by name and made sure she was comfortable in her renovated, beautiful room.

We recently placed our mom here after she had a stroke in February. It was probably the hardest decision we've ever made, especially since she wasn't able to come back home with us. She definitely needs assistance that we're unable to provide, working full time. The first good sign that we made the right decision, was when she was given the choice to come home and stay overnight her first weekend, she asked to go back to her apartment at the end of the day, because it would be easier! We knew at that moment this was the place for her. Kimberly and the director Brooke were both so warm and welcoming. I read some other reviews and I'm hoping both will be around for awhile. I know they strive for a fast response time and for the most part they achieve that pretty well. Most all of the staff are very kind, caring and just good people. They have activities that my mom enjoys, and the staff is always good at coming to get her when it's time for activities. She likes the food and it's nice that they have other things they can order other than the special. We're able to join her for any meal for minimal cost and even the employees in the dining and kitchen are wonderful. Last night was the icing on the cake. My sister, her son and his daughter came to town to visit our mom and it was also his birthday so, Brooke put me in touch with the dining director to help arrange a dinner for our whole family to eat together. The director setup a table for 18 of us, the servers and staff so graciously attended to us even though they do not accept tips. The food was great and we brought cake with us to share it with the staff who helped us. After they cleared the dishes, we were able to stay and play some cards for a bit. Both my nephew and mother had a wonderful time! Huge thank you for caring for our mother so well! (I held back from a five star, because she's only been here for a month ;)

Unlike the most recent review, my experience for my mom's care was not as positive. Over 2-years, it's been a revolving door of interim directors or corporate staff filling in. I visited every 3 months and always met with them to share my thoughts & concerns. I could not get a meeting with the current director. Initially, mom needed low level of care which included Stand-by for showers. However, never once when I visited or any family visited did anyone come for her shower time. When I asked, I was told my mom would send them away. OK. I get that. But she was never clean when I visited and she had several (at least 4 in 2 years) UTIs that sent her to the ER. Earlier this year it was decided her care level would need be increased from Level 2 to Level 4. This should include showering assistance (not stand-by) and distribution of her 2 prescriptions and we paid and additional $1900 to what were were already paying. Yet I still NEVER saw anyone come to help with bathing or dressing. Her hygiene was unacceptable. Now to housekeeping...her apartment was also dirty every time I visited. After getting mom clean, I'd clean her room. Dishes were always piled high in her sink. It smelled. The floor was dirty needing both sweeping and mopping. Her refrigerator was full of rotting leftovers she'd bring back from the dining room. Once, when her mental state was not good (and shortly after was diagnosed with another UTI), I found over 20 cups and glasses from the dining room in her apartment (in her cupboards, sink, drain, side table, and bathroom). When I returned them to the kitchen, they were shocked. I was too. Why wouldn't housekeeping take them back? Oh, and the roaches. First a dead one. Hmmm. Concerning. Then next visit a couple of live ones. Maintenance came out to spray immediately once I reported it. Upon move out, under the mat in her shower, a bunch of little baby roaches scurried out of the light and I scurried out of the room! Lastly, when I decided it was time to move her closer to me and gave the 30-day notice at Broadway Mesa Village, it was very hard to get any answers as to how to get her medicine before we left. I also needed assistance getting my mom on a call with a nurse in the state where she was moving for an assessment. Seems like it would be a pretty standard request from one assisted living facility to another, but I was told by the director (through the new person working in the business office, yeah she didn't take the call from me) that no one could take the time to help my mom access a video phone call for 10 minutes. She lived in an assisted living facility with very little, almost no assistance. Luckily for me, there were 2 people that have worked there the entire length of my mom's residency that definitely made both of our lives better! One helped my mom with that needed video assessment on her own time and the other mailed my mom's meds that weren't available to me on her move out date! Angels! There are definitely amazing people there and I give them a lot of credit dealing with my mom and helping me from afar and I'm forever grateful to them. But the ownership and management and how this facility is run day-to-day is very concerning. If you plan to move a loved one here, you need to be a strong advocate for them, monitor their care, and visit often! Thank you for your time if you've gotten to the end of this long post. Wait, let me add a quick note about the food. It always tasted good and my mom and other residents really liked it. I felt portions were way too big for these tiny people and I witnessed a lot of waste. I did find it odd when items like corn on the cob or a beef rib were served. Those are very difficult items to eat. Even a slice of ham or turkey is hard to cut if you only have use of one hand or are just frail. Seems like the chef and servers would know that food should be served bite sized. Other than that the serving staff was always pleasant and knew the residents by name along with their favorite beverages. And that's all. It's enough!

They have new management and has gotten so much better. First off, the executive director is nice and listens to everyones problems and concerns and does her best to make a change. Same goes with the business office as well. The front desk girl is super sweet and greets everyone who comes in and cares to carry a nice conversation with you and listens to residents concerns. The sales gal greets everyone and listens to everyones concerns that they have and will do her best to figure a solution out. The resident care coordinator is amazing! She listens to everyones concerns and will try to figure out a solution. She truly cares about her residents. The caregivers will greet you if they see you walk by and usually they know everyones names! They'll greet the residents by their names if they see them walk by as well which is very nice. Overall, they all care and always figure a solution out for everyone/everything. This new management is what we needed to make the community better for residents/family/staff. If your looking for an assisted living for a family member, this is the place! I would recommend this place to all friends/family. Thank you Broadway Mesa for the great effort and work you guys put in!!!!
