Oliver Woods Assisted Living and Memory Care

Oliver Woods is a wonderful community that truly cares about the well-being of its residents. What makes this community stand out, however, is its Executive Director, Carla. Carla is actively involved in the day-to-day life of the community. She knows every resident by name, takes the time to know their families, and is always available to help in any way she can. She leads with integrity, professionalism, and a genuine passion for serving older adults and their loved ones. I have personally witnessed Carla go above and beyond—even spending her own money—to make sure a resident had what they needed. What impresses me most is that she never seeks recognition for these acts of kindness. She leads with humility, quietly doing the right thing simply because she cares. That kind of leadership is rare. Oliver Woods is incredibly fortunate to have Carla at the helm. Her compassion, dedication, and selfless leadership create a culture that is felt by every resident, every family, and every member of the staff. She is a true blessing to this community.

I first experienced Oliver Woods some 25 years ago when my father moved in there. It was still a fairly new facility, but I could see right away that it was worlds above other similar facilities. They took such good care of Dad during his final years that I have visited there weekly for 20 years for games, music, prayer, and special events. The residents are happy and well cared for. The staff is courteous and welcoming. There are many activities to keep people sharp and engaged. They have gone through quite a few administrators in recent years, but the overall quality remains high. Recommended for yourself or your loved ones.

My grandma passed away here. These people are like vultures, especially “director”Carla. I realize on the surface they have some nice reviews, but most seem to be from people that have merely visited or had training there, not actual people that have stayed. The real world experience is absolutely different. And we don’t seem to alone in this. Look for the review by Martha Merrell her mother passed a year ago. The staff here has repeatedly been negligent including not checking on my grandma as required and then later she is found on the floor. After my Grandmothers death the contract says the move out is 30 days after. Yet my mom arrives one day to find large furniture items stolen (really…no one saw these carried out?) and now last minute she is told they are renting the apartment to someone else early so they need to move my grandmothers stuff to a spare room immediately (even though she had 30 days upon death) and anything not picked up goes to the dumpster. If large antique furniture can vanish without a trace, can they really be trusted to watch our loved ones? What else is going on here? There is a reason why the staff turn over rate is so high, terrible management. I would highly recommend to stay away from this place. 16 June 26 - Edit in reply to response. Not surprised you’re denying stuff. Based on your behavior thus far it was expected. One would have hoped that you would have instead taken it seriously and make improvements. But i will not be removing this review, the intent is for it to serve as a warning to others. In the coming days i will be uploading further screenshots of text messages and photo proof. i just added a picture my mom took of my grandmothers oxygen cord. It was a repeated occurrence to see it kinked up, reducing the oxygen flow.

You can feel the love and care the moment you walk into this community. The team is deeply compassionate and truly invested in the people who live there. That culture is supported by a leadership team that leads with intention, attention to detail, and heart. The warmth of this community is unmatched. I highly recommend scheduling a tour to see it firsthand.
