If you are looking for the worst dementia care in DFW you have found it. First off, I am a retired medical doctor. This facility provided disgraceful care for my brother. From the director of the facility, down to the people who are “supposed” to do the laundry, to the people who dispense medication NO ONE CARES. He did not receive his most important medications to prevent hallucinations for 3 WEEKS and this resulted in him hurting another patient and then himself after a bad fall where he split his head open. During his stay here, we have found him in a urine soaked bed daily. We have arrived to poop and vomit in his bed. Several times we arrived to find him in one of the many hallways only dressed in a diaper and shivering on the floor with skinned knees and feet because he had been crawling in his diaper. How this facility is so uncaring is unthinkable. I couldn’t be more disappointed and could never recommend this place to anyone. Part of our decision to put him here was its wonderful reviews…how deceptive. Families beware

March 17, 2020, I hope this is the last time I have to review this place. I'm not sure what the name is now since it changes periodically. Sometime towards the end of last summer, they finally tired of my complaints about their substandard care of the captive birds on their property and told me to just take them home with me. Our mother died on 12/30/19 and we still have not received a card or letter from anyone there about her. She lived there three years and made friends with other patients and staff. Even management did nothing. No cards or flowers at the funeral. Sweet sweet Lindsey did attend the funeral. Thank you Lindsey. We appreciated that. Oh, we did hear from management. A bill for the five days it took us to empty our mothers room. This place made our lives harder not easier while trying to provide for our mother. Most importantly hers. 6/20/19 Once again while visiting my mother, during family night when you would think they would be on their best behavior, the captive birds that live here had unclean water and empty hulls to eat. Martha, the new office manager noticed about the same time I did and gave them clean water and added to the food I had on me and was able to give them. She was very sweet and said she had no idea how to tend to the birds or whose job it was. I can't say the same for the other people I have begged over the last 2 to 3 years who all insist they do so feed those birds with a sneer on their faces and deny the fact that they had nothing fit to eat or drink. In other words I'm just making the whole thing up irregardless of the several dated photos of filthy yellow water and bowls full of empty hulls. I obviously have nothing better to do than accuse people who are taking good care of their animals of NOT taking care of them. I've sent emails to a succession of "directors" who ALL deny the problem or ignore it. If they are neglecting these voiceless little sentient creatures, what else are they getting away with neglecting? Maybe a visit from PETA or a news crew just dropping in might encourage them to FEED AND WATER THOSE BIRDS EVERY SINGLE DAY INCLUDING THE WEEKENDS! They brag on their website of offering a bird therapy room. Shame shame shame on them! See the attached photos: Other review: Scattered, unorganized care. Personal experience with theft from staff. Personal experience with ignorant LVN (Valerie-the lvn nurse on duty in June 2017) as only nurse on staff where an RN is needed.

Over a year ago, we toured Oak Ridge Alzheimer's Special Care Center after visiting a few other places in the area for a family member. The minute we walked in, I knew this place would be it! The other facilities we toured that day had a horrible urine smell and were sadly understaffed. I noticed the absence of odor when we walked through the Oak Ridge door. The staff and leadership at this location are excellent! The follow-up and follow-through with the director, Jen, and the staff to answer our questions during the admission process were incredible. This facility is faith-based, has lower occupancy (less than 50 residents), and is very hands-on with the residents with monthly activities and events; a retired minister holds a church service every week, and Pastor Ja comes by monthly for a sing-along of church hymns. Overall, we are pleased with Director Jen and the medical staff at Oak Ridge ASCC. Keep up the good work, and thank you!
